I like it. It's heavier than I thought it would be, which is ok on a stand, but it can get tiring fast when my voice-activated assistant is lugging it around. And I usually prefer a white dish, not silver. So, the jury is still out on that. I need to shoot the same person with the MM and my 20" White dish to see which look overall I prefer. But I do like that I can just switch out and put it in place of a softbox super quickly with my whole system.

From headshots to dancer portraits this modifier is wonderful at creating a beautiful soft light as well as a more directed focus with the grid. I love how compact it is and how everything fits so neatly in the case.

This is a very compact and well built dish. I like being able to take it with me on location! The grid is great for controlling the light. The covering turns this into a quick softbox. It's a winner!

The beauty dish is fantastic! I love the quality of light that comes from it. I appreciate that it came with a case, grid, and diffuser also! It's all super easy to use and it's light weight to carry around. I used it at a wedding just before Christmas and I really like the results! The light cast was so nice during the reception! I was very pleased with being able to capture dynamic shadows and light while using it across a dance floor. It made the reception very interesting! The last time MagMod sent out a feedback form I actually suggested that they make a beauty dish (I'm sure I wasn't the only one who suggested it). I'm glad they did because it's a great addition to their product line! As far as the construction goes, I noticed there was a bit of a weak spot in the welding where the flexible part meets the bowens mount. It's not broken but it looks like overtime it could break more easily than if it had a better weld. The gels are kind of difficult to attach to the dish. I don't know if that's because my gels are new, maybe they get more flexible overtime? The person in the video made it look so easy! I wish we could use magnets to attach them, I'm not sure how that effects strobes though? The case is great! I find that I have to fidget with the gels to get them to fit correctly so I can close it. It's a bit cumbersome but works. I wish there was a space just for the gels in the case though. The shoulder strap, zippers, and the buckle can be a little cumbersome when you are in a hurry, but they are useful. It just seems like they're all in each other's way when you're trying to open or close it. Honestly, it's not a big concern or anything, just something for MagMod to consider next time around. I like the netting on the side for storage of the diffuser and the grid. Again, I wish there was a spot to put some gels though. Overall, it's a great product and I'm glad MagMod created it! The light quality is beautiful and it's super easy to use! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with next!

Everything I've come to expect from MagMod and more....I've switched to using their modifiers exclusively. Planning to offload modifiers bought before finding MagMod (maybe even burning a few that are particularly cumbersome to use!). So portable and quick to setup - I'm saving so much time, as I don't have a dedicated studio to leave things in place between sessions. I love the colored gels too...I'm using them to change background colors on a white background.

Travel friendly. I love that the grid is magnetic and holds strong. Easy incorporation of mag gels. It is not lightweight, so grip accordingly. I believe this will replace my old beauty dish entirely.

I've had 2 jobs using this and so far I love it. I love my softboxes but this really comes in handy in minimal space or overly windy conditions. The light it produces is also just as advertised and very nice. As with all magmod products, the portability is top notch, also

The beauty dish fits great into the MagMod lineup. It is quick to set up and easy to use, thus increasing the time you spend with your subjects, instead of messing with equipment. Durability is incredibly important to me. The world is my studio, so I need equipment that can take a beating, and not need replaced every time it takes a bump. The Beauty dish combined rigidity and silicone beautifully to help it collapse and be absorbent to falls/drops.

MagMod has completely transformed the way I approach lighting in my photography, and I can't imagine going back to shooting without it. The beauty dish has always been one of my favorite light modifiers, but I typically only used it in the studio due to its bulk. Now, with the new Magmod Beauty Dish and its collapsible design, it's easy to bring on location shoots. I love the magnetic grid, which is much more durable than traditional ones, and the built-in gel holder is a huge plus for quickly adding gels.
