How Photographers Can Start a Co-op & Exhibit Work with Deborah Gilbert

Date: Tuesday, August 5th · 5 - 6pm ET
Location: In-Person Event + Livestreamed Online
Livestream Link: https://www.youtube.com/@AdoramaEvents/streams

So, you have created a body of work; now what?

If you have ever wanted to exhibit your photography, to try to make some sales by taking your work directly to the public, but felt frustrated by the gallery world gate-keepers, why not learn to jump the gate-keepers’ turnstile by mounting an exhibition of your own?

Yes, it takes the same kind of effort, thought, and creativity as it took to build your body of work, but it is doable — so why not try?

This event will cover all the things you’ll need to consider and do, from soup to nuts, to create a photo exhibition of your own — and bring qualified buyers through the doors to see your work.

In this presentation Deborah Gilbert will cover the practicalities of how to organize a group of photographers (or do a show on your own), setting goals and a timeline, utilizing a gallery or alternative venues, how to create your marketing plan, handle publicity and advertising, budgeting, finances and pricing, what to have together before you schedule a date, what to have ready to meet the public, and ways of presenting your work.

And don’t think that exhibitions are only for fine art photographers!

Even if the genre you work in is weddings or headshots, or any other kind of commercial photography, knowing how to produce a public exhibition of your work can be a great tool to have in your marketing toolbox. We will discuss these as well.
