About Panasonic VDR-M70 DVD PAL Camcorder, 2.5" LCD Screen with Color Viewfinder & 10x Optical Zoom, 240x Digital Zoom, Records to DVD-RAM and DVD-R Discs.

The VDR-M70 (note: this version PAL) allowing for non-linear editing and within the camcorder, uses either DVD-RAM or DVD-R discs, giving you multiple recording and playback options. DVD-R discs are tough and versatile, and can be played back on most home DVD players. However, DVD-RAM discs allow you to recordand erase, just like videotapes. DVD-RAM discs can also be played back in compatible devices, like select computers and home DVD-players.

The model combines the comprehensive features you would expect from a DVD camcorder. Yet, it is convenient and easy to use, delivering more professional results for the casual videographer.

The VDR-M70 DVD camcorder weighs a mere 1.10 lbs and has a 10x optical zoom. It has a 240x digital zoom and a 1/4" 1,020,000 pixel CCD. The VDR-M70's slim, compact design camcorder has a 2 1/2 inch color LCD monitor for easily capturing or playing back images. The Digital Electronic Image Stabilization helps compensate for unintended hand and/or camcorder movement.

Panasonics DVD Palmcorder® Camcorders also record onto SD Memory Cards. SD cards are versatile, high-capacity storage cards that are extremely small, about the sizeof a postage stamp. They work as "digital film," letting you capture images and then transfer them to a PC, TV, PDA, or other device equipped with an SD slot.

A single DVD-RAM disc can hold approximately 120 minutes of high-quality MPEG2 moving pictures in standard recording mode. You can also record in XTRA mode for the best picture quality possible for the remaining disc space.

Unlike videotapes, DVDs need no rewinding or fast-forwarding to search for specific scenes. The camcorder's LCD displays a list of the recorded scenes for quick, easy searching. Images recorded onto DVD-RAM or DVD-R discs can also be played on a DVD recorder or DVD player, so you don't have to hook the camcorderup to a TV to watch your recordings.

You can select the scenes you've shot onto a disc and arrange them to play back in any order you want. You can create your own scenarios, & then save them into a playlist with seamless transitions between scenes.

Since the camcorder uses a "non-contact" method to record and play, repeated playback doesn't damage the image-like it does with videotape. Your favorite videos and images can be kept for years without any loss in quality. Plus, DVD-RAM disc space can be rewritten approximately 100,000 times, making them both economical, and ideal for repeated recording.

In addition to moving images, the VDR-M70 can also record still images onto a DVD-RAM disc (alongside your video recordings),or onto an SD Memory Card. Digital EIS is a unique idea that helps compensate for unintentional hand and/orcamcorder movement. It even reduces unwanted jitter from recordings made in a car, or while walking. To save battery power during recording and playback, the VDR-M70 both comes with a color viewfinder that can be used instead of the LCD.
