I've had this AW130 for nearly 4 years, and it has been a good camera. Took it snorkeling and shallow diving in Jamaica and got some beautiful underwater photos and videos. No problems leaking and no issues of black screen that others have reported. In fact, on land pictures are also great. I have noticed the issue with the flash not being synched all that great in auto flash and focus. I will say that the buttons are too tiny, and agree with other reviewers on that, as well as that the menu can be a little intimidating/non-intuitive. The small buttons are particularly frustrating taking photos and vids underwater. If you spend 45 minutes with the camera stepping through the menu and using the manual as you go along, anyone with a brain should be able to get the hang of it all. But for the rest of the negative reviews and comments on build quality, blurriness, etc., I just haven't had any issues. The camera has been solid for me. No breaking doors or battery latch, door seals are still in great shape showing no wear... and like I said, it hasn't leaked. Maybe I'm just a little more careful with the product and I read and learn the product use and features before I slam it in a review. LOL

I've had this camera for 5 years now and just replaced the battery. This camera has been rock solid and i have snorkelled with it many times. No issues at all. I have taken 1000's of photos and videos with it. Over and under water. It is my go to camera on Mexico trips and my overnight kayak, river trips.

Within 6 months of purchase, it has failed 3 times.. twice to a point where it has to go back for warranty repair. I am currently aboard on a trip where I planned to use and Nikon won't support a repair even though they have repair centres all over the region. The one drive trip it did (partially) work on the underwater pictures were wildly inferior. Out of the water it's just OK but a waste of money if you're above sea level. Way better off to purchase a Canon with the underwater housing if you want really good quality underwater shots. Don't waste your time or money if you really need a decent waterproof camera.

When your life is full of amazing views and big moments, it's hard not to share them all. Make the COOLPIX AW130 part of your go-to gear and start turning those radical moments into photos and Full HD videos that amaze. Waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof, the Nikon COOLPIX AW130 Black Digital Camera is ready for adventures. With built-in Wi-Fi and Near Field Communication technology (NFC), you can transfer your photos right to a compatible smartphone so you don't have to wait to share them; and built-in GPS records your coordinates and maps your shots. Strap the COOLPIX AW130 to your chest with Nikon's optional harness and create jaw-dropping first-person photo sequences and videos that'll make your friends feel like they were there. And since it's a Nikon camera, the COOLPIX AW130 and it's wide-angle (24mm equivalent) NIKKOR glass lens delivers image quality in a class of its own, even in low light.
Waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof
The COOLPIX AW130 is the camera that can go anywhere. Take it snorkeling, SCUBA diving, rafting or fishing-it's waterproof down to 100 feet. Take it skiing or snowboarding-it's freezeproof to 14deg. F. Even take it biking, climbing, skating or hiking-it can withstand drops from as high as 7 feet. Always bring home amazing views.
Share your photos in a snap-Nikon snapbridge
Nikon snapbridge describes the experience of quickly and easily sending photos wirelessly from your Wi-Fi & NFC enabled COOLPIX AW130 to a compatible smartphone or tablet. Share your great photos on the go, even in remote locations or use a smartphone or tablet to control your camera.
Built-in GPS, mapping, Electronic Compass and Points of Interest (POI) for creating amazing photo journals
Relive the excitement of your travels in a whole new way. The COOLPIX AW130 records the exact location of each shot you take, so you can follow the path of your adventure and every stunning view along the way! Share your journeys on Google Maps, Google+ and other social networking sites or with the downloadable Nikon View NX2 software. Built-in mapping and Electronic Compass also help you navigate unfamiliar destinations and Points of Interest (POI) show you nearby photo-ops like scenic lookouts and historic landmarks. The COOLPIX AW130 is the ultimate travel companion!
5x optical zoom NIKKOR ED wide-angle glass lens
When you're underwater or atop a mountain, you want to capture the amazing view-all of it. The COOLPIX AW130's wide-angle (24mm f2.8 equivalent), 5x optical zoom NIKKOR glass lens provides a wide field of view that's great for those moments. Vibration Reduction (VR) offsets camera shake to keep your photos sharper and your videos steadier-crucial for an action camera. And if 5x optical zoom isn't enough reach, there's Dynamic Fine Zoom, an enhanced digital zoom function that effectively doubles your reach to 10x zoom.
Hold down the shutter button and fire up to 5 shots per second
Create amazing action sequences with the touch of a button. When the action speeds up, just hold down the shutter button and fire off up to 5 shots per second (5 shots continuously). You'll get views of fast-moving subjects you may never have seen.
Mind-blowing videos
With the press of a button, the COOLPIX AW130 becomes a high-performance video camera. 5-axis Hybrid Vibration Reduction (VR) helps you shoot stable, smooth videos without a tripod and a built-in stereo mic captures high-fidelity sound. Shoot stills while you're recording video, combine short clips into a 30-second montage, even create amazing time-lapse movies right in the camera.
Keep it steady
There's nothing worse than a shaky handheld video. As soon as you start recording with COOLPIX AW130, Hybrid VR (Vibration Reduction) activates and combats camera shake for sharper steadier home movies.
Enjoy the view
The COOLPIX AW130's large, Wide Viewing Angle OLED display makes it easy to compose your shots or monitor your video recording. Reviewing and sharing your creations is a pleasure, too-every shot looks fantastic on the display.
Intelligent autofocus
It's frustrating when a smartphone camera focuses on the wrong thing. With COOLPIX AW130, Target Finding AF quickly determines your intended subject and puts the focus where it belongs-on your subject.
Creative control even in gloves
More creativity at your fingertips-even if your fingertips are enclosed in ski gloves! The COOLPIX AW130's handy Action Control feature makes it easy to adjust specific camera settings. Wrapped up in the action with no time to change settings? The COOLPIX AW130 automatically adjusts camera settings. And if you're looking to add creativity, select in-camera effects such as black and white or selective color. There's even an underwater mode to keep images colorful and properly exposed.
WI-FI Compatibility
This camera's built-in Wi-Fi capability can only be used with a compatible iPhone, iPad, and/or iPod touch or smart devices running on the Android operating system. The Wireless Mobile Utility application must be installed on the device before it can be used with this camera.
