Olympus’ most rugged camera yet, the Stylus Tough Tg-5 Tracker was just announced and the Adorama TV team immediately decided to put this little camera to the test.  In this charming video, see the 4K action camera take a tumble, get crushed, and become submerged in water, all while still being able to take amazing pictures and track GPS and compass locations.

With the TG-5, Olympus delivers a high-image-quality camera that the manufacturer claims to be the “pinnacle of the Tough series.”  When Olympus’ definition of tough includes being able to withstand a crush of 100 kgf, clear a drop of up to 2.1m,  and being able to be submerged up to 15m, you can be sure that you are getting an action cam that will survive whatever you throw at it (or wherever you throw it!) The camera is even freezeproof up to -10 degrees Celsius.

Along with the 4x optical zoom, the bright /2.0 lens allows photographers to shoot at fast shutter speeds while reducing blur even if shooting in low light.

An important improvement in Olympus’ latest Tough camera is its recording capabilities – the TG-5 is compatible with 4K Movie, allowing photographers to capture amazing detail. High-speed Movie is also supported, providing 120-fps recording capability at Full HD resolution.

Other new features and improvements include a new image sensor and image processor.  In order to maximize the capabilities of the high-resolution /2.0 lens, Olympus added a high-speed back illuminated image sensor and TruePic VIII image processor used on the OM-D E-M1 Mark II.
