Named the “most compact and lightest full-frame, ultra-wide-angle zoom lens in its class,” according to Tamron, the company’s new 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD lens is a new addition to your landscape photography gear arsenal.
The small and lightweight lens — it comes in at just 3.5 inches in length and 16.2 ounces in weight — also comes in a moisture-resistant construction that’s meant to weather the elements you’re shooting in. With advanced BBAR coating technology (broad-band anti-reflection), fluorine coating, and Tamron’s proprietary ghosting analysis simulation technology, which gives you a higher level of control in backlighting, the lens is meant to work in various conditions.
The lens’ seven-bladed diaphragm and circular aperture work in tandem to produce a smooth-edged bokeh, while the silent autofocus system is there to allow you to photograph in low-key situations without disrupting the space.
The OSD (Optimized Silent Drive) allows for the silent work, as well as AF and minimum drive noise that lead to improved tracking technology for high-speed moving objects.
Featuring an optical construction, and 15 elements in 10 groups, the lens was specifically designed to avoid the aberrations that often affect ultra-wide-angle-zoom lenses.
The lens is available for preorder for the Nikon mount for , and will be released on September 4, 2018. The Canon mount is also available for preorder and shipping will be announced at a later date.
