Easy workflow for video and sound
The V-8HD offers users eight different HDMI inputs to accommodate every camera, camcorder, graphic, and visual effect. Don’t worry about varying frame rates and color spaces — the Roland switcher mixes all feeds smoothly and even has a built-in scaler for sources like smartphones and 4:3 ratio devices. For creativity and professionalism, the V-8HD offers five composition layers so users can work with a background layer, picture-in-picture, chroma, and luminance key effects, and one downstream keyer. If users have a certain composition they enjoy for the style or purpose, they can save it to one of eight available presets. To make the source switching process effortless, the V-8HD has automated video switching settings like input scan, preset memory scan, and beats per minute sync.
The Roland V-8HD provides users with premiere audio functionality to produce an expert sound mix. The video switcher lends 18 channels of audio, two for each HDMI input and two for a stereo RCA input. Users also have access to a library of audio effect presets that range from interview settings to de-essing a microphone. As mentioned, the V-8HD has three HDMI outputs and a stereo RCA output. For more control over their outputs, users can assign certain inputs to a specific output so you have a recording feed or live stream separate from the main program output.

Compact, all-in-one video switcher
The V-8HD is a convenient tool for producers thanks to its limit on hardware and software. Weighing only four pounds and measuring just about 12.5 x 7.6 x 2.8 inches, this video switcher is easy to carry and set up anywhere. The top has a 4.3-inch multiviewer display that shows all eight video inputs, PGM, PVW, and menu overlay. If an expanded view is needed, users can connect to an external TV. All the input controls — including switching functions, faders, and parameters — can be adjusted remotely using the iPad remote control utility app. The Roland V-8HD is compatible with both single and double BOSS foot switch that perform more than 100 switcher commands. Lastly, the switcher can be connected to Atomos recorders that automatically trigger recording on and off, ensuring you don’t lose any footage.
