Rock and Roll has lost another one of the greats, Glenn Frey, guitarist and founding member of the Eagles. Frey passed away yesterday at the age of 67. The band’s publicist posted a message on the Eagles’ website confirming Frey’s passing.

“Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia,” reads the post.

Frey wasn’t just known for being a world-class guitarist, he and the Eagles were also unparralleled performers and showmen famous for creating some of rock’s most iconic moments in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Here are some of our favorite photos and videos of iconic moments Frey created during his time with us.

The very first Eagles song, which would become known throughout the world for revolutionizing country rock, was “Take It Easy.” Here is fantastic footage of Frey and the Eagles early on in 1974.

A high-quality video of one of Frey’s finest guitar solos we’ve all come to know and love.

For all his fame, fortune and talent, Frey was still an undeniably kind, funny and humble man. Here’s a look at the man behind the music in this 1992 interview.

In 1998, the Eagles were accepted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Frey’s acceptance speech shows both his humor and his penchant for honesty no matter the crowd.
