Today, Profoto has announced the release of a new remote system for photographers to easily control lighting while on set. The Profoto Connect Pro Remote System allows users to manage multiple off-camera lights through its interface, which can quickly slide onto your camera’s hot shoe. Read on for more about this exciting new addition to the Profoto lineup.

Key Features of the Profoto Connect Pro

  • Connect to camera’s hot shoe
  • Sync any Profoto light compatible with Air or AirX
  • Intuitive screen interface
  • Flash triggering and remote control up to 1,000 feet
  • TTL and HSS up to 330 feet
  • Up to 100 channels
  • Profoto Control app capabilities
  • Battery capacity of up to 50 hours

Easy Set-Up and Sync

You can easily slide the Profoto Connect Pro into your camera’s hot shoe to begin, and lock it in place. You can sync any Profoto light, as long as it’s compatible with Air or AirX. By downloading the Profoto Control app on your iPad, iPhone, or Android, you can also receive information through the mirrored group controls. Just make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on the Connect Pro interface.

Profoto has also expanded its system to 100 channels with the launch of the Connect Pro. The Sync menu allows you to manage how you would like your device to trigger the flash units. But that’s not all — there’s a number of advanced settings to personalize your experience with the Connect Pro.

No matter where you are on set, you can trust that your lighting will be perfect. The flash triggering and remote control can reach up to 1,000 feet, while TTL and HSS can reach up to 330 feet.

Sleek, New Interface

Its bold display is intended to make it easy for you to locate the settings you need. There are four buttons on the left of the screen to reach your group controls. You’ll also see a dial under the screen which allows you to adjust the power of the light you have selected. There are also various buttons on the display for toggling whichever off-camera light you choose.

Within the Profoto Connect Pro, you have the option to work with two control modes. Air 1 is the classic protocol that should be used with any of Profoto’s legacy Air products. But Profoto has now introduced Air 2, which features absolute power readings on the display. This is optimal for any AirX-enabled flash heads.

Based on what we know so far, the Profoto Connect Pro seems like a trustworthy choice for creators who need full control over their studio lighting. With the amount of group controls and channels, professional studios will benefit from having this small-but-mightly remote. Weighing less than 1/3 of a pound, it’s a no-brainer to add this remote system to your gear bag. There is now a Profoto Connect Pro version available for every major camera brand:
