Today Introduced the third generation of the critically acclaimed, amateur-oriented Olympus digital OM-D E-M DSLR-like mirrorless camera series, the Olympus E-M10 Mark III. The new camera offers improved focusing and image processing and introduces 4K video while maintaining the E-M10’s ease of use. Less pricey than the more advanced digital E-M1 series or the mid-range E-M5, the E-M10 offers simplified controls (it is claimed to be “the easiest to use OM-D ever”) backed up by significant technological wizardry from Olympus.

Compared to its predecessor, the EOS OM-D E-M10 Mark III offers more precise autofocus (121 vs. 81-point AF), a next-generation image processor, wider ISO range (up to 6400 instead of 1600), a new Art Filter, 4K video instead of HD, and in-camera video editing. Like the E-M10 Mark II, the Mark III features a 16MP sensor, 5-axis image stabilization with 4 stops of effectiveness, the same viewfinder and LCD monitor, and the same 60-1/4000 sec shutter speed range that’s boostable to an electronic 1/16,000 sec.

The E-M10 Mark III has a flip-up/down touch LCD screen that’s great for high and low angle shooting, an advanced EVF that shows the final exposure before you shoot, and updated shooting assist modes. The new Auto mode detects the kind of scene and lighting being picked up by the lensOlympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III and automatically chooses settings using artificial intelligence. A redesigned scene menu is intuitive to use and includes explanatory notes for each mode or scene chosen.

The Scene menu includes five new Scene modes; all settings will be automatically set to the ideal combination for the desired scene. New modes include Nightscape Light Trails, Backlight HDR for scenery and indoors, Silent, and Multi-Focus shot. Live composite and multiple exposures are also available along with keystone compensation and focus bracketing.

The camera also offers 15 Art Filters, which apply specific effects to a scene. New to the E-M10 is the Bleach Bypass filter, which can give either a nostalgic “old film” look or a cool, glossy appearance to an image.

Other features include a Touch Priority Shutter, which lets you simultaneously focus and trigger the shutter by simply touching the LCD monitor where you want the focus to be. Face and Eye Priority modes are great for portraits, especially when shooting with fast lenses that have extremely shallow depths of field at maximum aperture. Continuous AF maintains focus on moving subjects, great for sports photography, and works with the 8.6fps burst to maximize chances for a successful image capture.

Users can operate the camera remotely via mobile devices using the Olympus OI.Share app. Features include importing and sharing photos, GPS tagging, and editing photos on a Wi-Fi-enabled device.

The Olympus OM-D EM10 Mark III will be available from Adorama body only for $649 in Black or Silver, or in a kit with the 14-42 EX Lens for $799, also in Black or Silver bodies.
