To kick off the new year the right way, Presonus has announced the release of two new incredible audio interfaces to the world at NAMM 2020: the ioStation 24c and Quantum 2626.
PreSonus ioStation 24c ()
Beginning with the ioStation 24c: this 2×2, 192 kHz, USB-C compatible interface and production controller sports a plethora of features within its easy-to-use control layout. The unit comes loaded with two transparent XMAX Class A mic preamps, able to capture all the details of professional-level recording. Featuring two switchable line/instrument combo inputs, an extremely capable and flexible DAW controller (with a touch-sensitive and motorized 100mm fader), and the new Session Navigator control which simplifies the mixing and controlling process in your DAW that much more effectively, the ioStation 24c is a great solution for both home and professional studio operations.
Additionally, the unit comes with the Studio One Artist and Studio Magic Plugin Suite, and provides seamless and native support for Studio One (as well as being compatible with Logic Pro X, Cubase, Ableton Live, and Pro Tools via MCU and HUI). All in all, this flexible and powerful audio interface was designed with the user in mind, and the specs show just that.
“One of our most requested features was to take a faderboard and turn it into an audio interface, so we’ve killed two birds with one stone here,” says Presonus representative Joe Gilder at NAMM 2020. “One of my favorites is the ‘mute’ button for the speakers. A lot of smaller interfaces, you’re going to need to turn them down every time you don’t want to listen to your speaker… but you can just do it right here with the button, as opposed to having to turn things down. It’s almost like having a small audio interface, faderport with control service functionality, and a little bit of monitor controller, for a tiny, little package.”
Presonus Quantum 2626 ()
As for the Quantum 2626 audio interface, this insanely powerful unit is one of the fastest Thunderbolt 3 interfaces currently available, with round-trip latency times of less than 1 ms. Yes, less than 1 ms latency.
If that weren’t enough, this pro-grade interface features high-definition 24-bit A/D/A digital conversion up to 192 kHz, eight ultra-transparent, front-mounted analog XMAX mic preamps, two direct outputs with dedicated line-level returns to insert output gear, up to a whopping 26-in/26-out when fully expanded using dual ADAT Optical. The same Studio One Artist and Studio Magic Plugin Suite are provided (as with the ioStation 24c), and the Quantum 2626 hosts everything you could possibly need for a pro-level recording in any situation.
Additionally, the featured I/O of ¼” TRS Left and Right main outputs, 8 ¼” TRS line outputs (DC-coupled), and 2 ¼” headphone outputs, each with their own dedicated volume controls, make this advanced audio interface an easy choice, compared to among other units in the same price range.
From the universally-acclaimed speed and XMAX mic preamps to the ridiculous amount of I/O and beyond, the Quantum 2626 from Presonus is an exciting new option.
