Meural Full HD Crystal-Clear Wi-Fi Photo Frame: Hands-On Review

Photography is more exciting than ever as camera brands and phone manufacturers continue leveling up their gear, but as a photographer myself, I’ve noticed one problem: I have nowhere to showcase my favorite images!

Now, I did look into digital photo frames. I tried frame after frame but continuously came up empty-handed. Then, I saw a Meural Canvas sitting on a friend’s counter. The frame was smoothly integrated into the design of his kitchen; I did a double-take when witnessing the display transition. I went home, researched the canvas, and needless to say, I was hooked!

Clear, high-resolution screen

The Meural 15.6″ Full HD Crystal-Clear Wi-Fi Photo Frame by Netgear is superbly designed. The crystal-clear 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080 Full HD display has automatic brightness adjustment and an anti-glare coating, so the photos always look crystal clear, no matter the room’s lighting. The digital frame has an optional intelligent layout feature, detecting if your photo is landscape or portrait. It will only display the pictures in your album that fit the orientation of your Meural Canvas, although you can turn this setting off.

The stylish frame has touchless gesture sensors that allow you to change the photo or access the menu in any mode, all with the simple wave of your hand—a no-smudge bonus!

In addition to the frame’s design, this creation comes in easy-to-open packaging. The box has pull tabs to ensure a frustration-free unboxing experience. Attached to the canvas, is a sleek metal stand that flips out from the back that can support either vertical or horizontal orientation. However, the manufacturer also thoughtfully includes drywall screws, anchors, and a matching color mount for hanging the Meural Canvas on the wall, plus a cleaning cloth to keep your pictures dust and grime free.

Enjoy the Meural Canvas’ simple, intuitive setup

Getting started is easy. Turn on the Meural Canvas by plugging in the adapter and hitting the power button on the back of the frame. Then, upload your photos via the Meural app. Once the app is downloaded and running, tap the bottom left menu to add a canvas, join its broadcasted network and bam! It connects to your home Wi-Fi in a snap.

On an iPhone you can sync albums you already have, add any of Apple’s preloaded smart albums, or you can create a new album and pick and choose photos at will.

For desktop photo loading, go to the Meural website, my.Meural.Netgear.com, login and upload photos to your WiFi capable photo frame. You can also adjust the brightness, turn off the orientation lock, purchase new artwork collections, or reorder your pictures to your heart’s content.

Another perk? This frame isn’t solely for photographers. Art enthusiasts can select pieces to display using the Meural Canvas app’s art library, which boasts an amazing collection of artwork that encompasses both a generous free selection and an optional membership to access a vast collection of modern, contemporary, and classic artwork.

Once you’ve uploaded your photos or curated your collection, it’s time to sit back, relax, and enjoy your beautiful memories in vivid high-def, right from the comfort of your couch.
