Lugging around a DSLR with equipment can be tricky and a hassle: How am I going to carry all of this? Can I do it comfortably? How do I make sure nothing gets broken? Lowepro took all of these factors into account when designing the new Protactic II backpack. The Protactic BP 450 AW II is the successor to the Protactic BP 450 AW — and the ProTactic BP 350 AW II to the BP 350 AW — and blends easy-access points, SlipLock accessories, a 15″ laptop slip (for the 450 model; 13″ for the 350), and more.
Key Characteristics:
- 4-point gear access
- Variety of SlipLock modular accessories
- CradleFit slot secures 15″ laptop for the 450; 13″ laptop for the 350
- Built with FormShell material
- Waist belt can be modified into a utility belt with accessories
- Adaptable inside compartments
- Weighs 2.84kg
- ActivZone comfort at the shoulders, lumbar, and waist
- Tripod cup
All the comfort:
Hauling around dense cameras lenses and hefty tripods can be uncomfortable and draining. Lowepro has got you covered. The Protactic II places Activzone cushions on the shoulder straps, lumbar region, and on the waist belt to alleviate some of that pesky weight. The body of the backpack is made out of lightweight FormShell material, which is sturdy enough to cradle your equipment, but also keeps the total weight at 2.84kg. The Protactic II comes with an All Weather (AW) cover that shields equipment from wind, rain, snow, and dirt — perfect for the adventurous photographer battling terrain and elements. Lastly, the adjustable sections inside the pack allow the user to organize their equipment to help ease some pressure.
Carry everything:
Shooting can require a handful of additional accessories, which aren’t necessarily fun to carry. But, the Protactic II’s belt can be transformed into a utility belt with up to 16 SlipLock attachments on a 40” belt. The user can link a water bottle, camera batteries, speedlites, among other things. The Protactic II also has a tripod cup to drop a stand into if you’re looking to do some stable shooting or timelapses. A secure slot for a 15” laptop is included for carting around your MacBook or PC on-to-go, and is useful if you’re looking to retouch in Photoshop or jump into Premiere Pro. The adjustable compartments, mentioned above, can be arranged to suit whatever you need to hoist around, as well.
The Lowepro Protactic BP 450 AW II incorporates four-point gear access across the backpack. This should eliminate the difficulty in grabbing your camera in a moment’s notice to capture a fleeting shot.
Overall, this crafty backpack is ideal for any shooter that requires the space for accessories, but also needs mobility — whether that be around the city on while backpacking in remote terrain. The Lowepro Protactic BP 450 AW II is available in black for , and the ProTactic BP 350 AW II is available for , both on Adorama.com.
