Bigger Is Better:

Most notably, the new Q2 has a 47.3 megapixel full-frame sensor, that brings 95 percent more resolution than the Q. A sensor of this size has a striking effect on image quality and produces a vivid, detailed picture at several focal lengths. To handle a sensor of this capacity, Leica dropped a new processor from the Maestro II family into the Q2.

Thanks to the effective sensor, users can take advantage of the Q2’s built-in crop effect. Within this feature, shots cropped to a 35mm frame equivalent will retain 30 megapixels, 15 megapixels at 50mm equivalent, and 7 megapixels at a 75mm equivalent. While shooting in this mode, the Q2 will keep the full image if users decide they don’t fancy the cropped version. The ability to keep a sharp image at several focal lengths makes the Q2 a versatile everyday partner.

Seamless Shooting:

The Q2 has several features that make it an ideal solution for a range of shooting scenarios including portraits, landscapes, street, and creative photography. The Q2 is fixed with a Summilux 28mm f/1.7 lens. With a fast lens and a high ISO, users are free to explore low-light situations or get a desirable bokeh on a friend’s headshot. The fixed 28mm lens paired with the aforementioned crop function gives users the focal length needed for creative distorted shots and proportional shots.

The Leica Q2 is also capable of 4K 30/24fps recording and Full HD up to 120 frames per second. Shooting Ultra HD film with a 47.3 megapixel sensor makes for a stunning picture. If you’re in a fast-paced situation, the Q2 features a ten frames per second burst function to capture every moment. And, to boot, the camera autofocuses in mere milliseconds with the new processor.

New Build:

The Q2 is built to be a travel companion, and Leica has designed it to be weather-sealed, lightweight, and compact. The company also redesigned the button layout, staying true to its motto of “reduction to the essentials.” Even the electronic viewfinder was improved to give an accurate representation of what shooters want to capture. As with other models, the Q2 is Bluetooth compatible so users can easily connect to the Leica FOTOS app for easy image editing and sharing. Lastly, don’t forget to check out all the new accessories available to really round out your new camera.

The Leica Q2 is available for preorder for  at Adorama.
