Greetings for the Photo Plus Expo 2015! The whole Adorama Learning Center team is at the Jacob Javits Convention Center (Adorama booth 830 and AdoramaPix booth 937) to bring all the latest product news from the show floor. As with other Photo Plus Expos, this year has brought all the biggest name in photography and video along with some of the must have gear.

Our morning coverage brought us first to the Leica booth (Booth #137) to check out the recently announced Leica SL and the all-new Vario-ElmaritSL 24-90mm f/2.8-4 ASPH lens built for the SL mount system. The Leica SL camera is a truly amazing piece of kit featuring an impossibly quick 4.3 million pixel EVF with almost no lag, one of the fastest autofocusing times available for mirrorless camera systems, 4K cinematic quality video, and a pleasantly rigid frame as you should expect in a true Leica. According to the reps at Leica, the Leica SL (601) was built for the field photographer in mind and from our initial impressions we’re definitely excited to put it through its paces.

Also at the Leica booth, we took some time to get reacquainted with the Leica Q – the fixed lens full-frame camera that would feel right at home in the hands of Henri Cartier-Bresson. As expected from a Leica camera, the Leica Q delivers a comfortable ergonomics and build quality that is simply unmatched – all to deliver the best photography experience and unparalleled image quality.

Moving along the show floor we stopped by the Tamron Booth (booth #818) to check out the latest prime lens offerings for Canon and Nikon mounts, the SP 35mm f/1.8 and SP 45mm f/1.8. The SP 35 and 45 primes are definitely two lenses that deserve consideration; built for the next generation of super high-resolution 50-megapixel sensors, the SP 35 and 45mm prime lenses are built to deliver superb image quality for the most discerning photographers out there. At the 35mm and 45mm focal ranges, Tamron has built a set of lenses that can be easily incorporated in to your workflow whether you’re shooting landscapes, portraits, or even street photography. Both the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 and SP 45mm f/1.8 are available at a very respectable MSRP of $599.00!

While you’re visiting Tamron make sure to look across the aisle to the Olympus Booth (booth #919). We got a chance to talk shop with Olympus about the new Olympus OM-D E-M10 mk. II. The latest Micro Four-Thirds offering from Olympus pushes the limits of the 16-megapixel shooter and adds 5-axis on-camera image stabilization for a truly natural image stabilization mechanism. Another feature to look for in the EM-10 mk. II is Olympus’s Live Composite that will take your low-light, light painting, and even astrophotography abilities to a whole new level.

Our last stop of the morning took us to the Sony booth (booth #519) to check out the latest in the a7 family and the all-new a7S mk. II. Sony continues to make a big impact on the camera market by continuing to refine their mirrorless full-frame camera line and the marked improvements in the a7S mk. II are a testament to the engineering process at Sony. Boasting the ability to autofocus in near-zero light, and improved autofocus speeds, the a7S mk. II is truly a mechanical wonder that is approachable whether you’re a casual photographer or if you’re seasoned professional. If you plan on checking out the expo, make sure to stop by their booth and check out their near-darkness autofocusing demonstration; definitely not to be missed.

Keep checking back with us here at the Adorama Learning Center as we bring you more from the show floor, some first impressions, quick video reviews and tours all from the show floor.
