The world’s smallest and lightest full-frame compact mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with optical in-body image stabilization is here! The new Sony Alpha 7C has just launched and includes a 24.2-megapixel back-illuminated sensor, 4K video capabilities, and so much more.

Also featuring a side flip-out LCD screen (just like in the recently-announced Sony Alpha a7S III) and when paired with the new FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 lens, the new compact camera is built for video enthusiasts, vloggers, or those making the jump into full-frame imaging.
“We are committed to creating the best tools possible, based on the needs of our customers,” said Neal Manowitz, deputy president of Imaging Products and Solutions Americas, Sony Electronics, in a company announcement. “The new Alpha 7C camera and FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 zoom lens pack many of our most advanced imaging technologies in a brand new design that is the smallest and lightest full-frame camera and lens system in the world. This opens up a new world of possibilities for creators, giving them the uncompromised power of a full-frame system in the palm of their hand.”
With 5-axis in-body image stabilization and an updated BIONZ X processing engine, the powerful camera is built to produce high-quality images. Sony has also equipped the camera with the brand’s robust AF system and 15-stop wide dynamic range. The Sony Alpha 7C includes real-time AF tracking, Real-time Eye AF, and Animal Eye AF. Stills and video will both benefit from the impressive tracking technology. It adds even more sharpness to images and footage. On the video end, you can enjoy 4K video with full pixel readout and up to 30fps, and 120 fps in full HD. It also supports HDR and S-Log/S-Gamut profiles.

The Alpha 7C features a touch-sensitive touch panel LCD monitor with 921,600 dots, plus a 2.35-million dot XGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a USB Type-C connection. The entire unit is dust- and moisture-resistant to help withstand harsh shooting conditions.
Weighing in at only 18 ounces with the battery and memory card, the compact build makes the camera an ideal partner for travelers and on-the-go creators.
The Sony Alpha 7C also comes with one rechargeable battery pack NP-FZ100, which can power approximately 740 shots (via the LCD monitor) and 140 minutes of movie recording. The camera includes an additional microphone terminal and a headphone jack, as well as a multi-interface shoe for further compatibility. A single slot for a SD (UHS-I/II compliant) memory card is also included.

Sony Alpha FE 28-60mm F4-5.6
The Sony Alpha 7C is available as body-only or with the new FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 standard zoom lens (see it above), which takes the record as the world’s smallest and lightest full-frame zoom lens. Boasting three aspherical lens elements, powerful AF capabilities, and weighing in at 5.9 ounces, the lens makes a perfect companion for the Alpha 7C. It’s compatible with 40.5mm filters and has a minimum focusing distance of 0.99 feet (at the wide-angle end) to 1.48 feet (at the telephoto end).
Alongside the camera and lens, Sony has also debuted the new HVL-F28RM compact flash. It’s 12% smaller and 7% lighter than the existing HVL-F32M, and is a powerful GN28 flash that’s small enough to be transported anywhere. It offers wireless radio communication and packs professional features into a pocket-sized body.
Professionals looking for a second — and extremely lightweight and compact — camera will love the unit’s full-frame strength. Those looking to step up to full-frame, or even video creatives in need of a camera for self-produced projects, will also appreciate the portability and power packed into the light and travel-friendly Sony Alpha 7C.
You can preorder the Sony Alpha 7C — available in both black and silver — and with the optional FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 kit lens starting tomorrow, September 15, 2020 at 10AM ET.
