DJI — leader of the drone industry and aerial imaging technology — recently announced its new enterprise products: the DJI Matrice 30 (M30) Drones. The M30 series is small enough to fit in your backpack, but offers more power, endurance, and capability for rugged professional uses than ever before. Let’s take a look at what we know about the DJI M30 Drone so far.
Key Features of the DJI M30 Drones:
- 12 MP wide-angle camera
- 8K photos
- 4K/30 FPS video
- Operating temperatures from -4 to 122 Fahrenheit
- FPV pilot camera
- OcuSync 3 Enterprise
- 41-minute flight time
- 8.16 lb. take-off weight
The M30 series comes in two versions: the M30 and M30T drones. Both products include everything listed above. Although, the M30T drone features an additional 640×512 px radiometric thermal camera.
DJI M30: Cameras Ready for Everything
The M30 Series drones integrate wide, zoom, and thermal cameras (M30T only) with a laser rangefinder. The wide camera has a focal length of 24mm, while the zoom camera offers 5×-16× optical zoom and 200× maximum hybrid zoom. On the M30T drone, the thermal imaging camera has a focal length of 40mm and frame rate of 30fps. You can capture 4K video and 8K photos on both drones, and the laser range finder is precise up to 1,200 meters away. It doesn’t matter if you are working filmmaking, construction, emergency response, or anything in between — you can expect clear footage.

Durable and Safe Design
Aside from the M30 Series drones’ compact and foldable build, they are also built to withstand the elements. The drones can operate in adverse weather conditions, such as temperatures from -4 to 122 Fahrenheit. It has a maximum flight time of 41 minutes and wind resistance of 15 m/s. Its service ceiling in 7000m and a maximum speed of 23 m/s. You’ll find dual-vision and ToF sensors on all six sides of the drone, and the built-in ADS-B receiver will send warnings of any incoming crewed aircraft nearby.
Redesigned Remote Control
The new DJI remote controller — the RC Plus — offers a 7-inch widescreen with six hours of screen-on time, so pilots can see everything in real time. On the controller, you’ll find six buttons below the control stick. These will give you control over critical functions, such as switching camera views. The DJI RC Plus also has ports for microSD card, USB, HDMI, USB type C and 4G connectivity.
Pilot 2 Software
The DJI FlightHub 2 is DJI Enterprise’s fleet management software — now entirely cloud based. You can manage your flight’s mission and operational viewing using the RC controller (see above) or from any web-browsing device, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones. Multiple people from your team can log into the same mission and see the data gathered by the M30 Series drones.
The DJI FlightHub 2 supports Live Annotations on the map, and can even pinpoint the coordinates of a missing person for Search and Rescue. All of this data can then be uploaded to the cloud, supported by AWS, and managed remotely.
Data Protection
DJI understands that enterprise customers need the highest standard of security and privacy. The M30 Series offers data security protocols built on DJI’s security-first Matrice 300 V3 firmware. There is a Local Data Mode — similar to “airplane mode” — which completely disconnects the drone from the internet to ensure all data stays only not the device. There is also SD card AES encryption which keep all footage and flight logs on the drone’s microSD card protected behind a security code and AES encryption.
