Have you ever gazed at the stars on a clear night? Maybe you’ve even set up a small telescope in your backyard and searched the sky for a beautiful celestial body to observe. The Celestron Origin 6” f/2.2 Intelligent Home Observatory Smart Telescope is revolutionizing amateur astronomy, blending stargazing and astrophotography into a single, user-friendly experience. The Origin is an all-in-one observatory that will remove the complexity of traditional telescopes—using cutting-edge optics and technology to bring stunning images of celestial bodies to your phone or tablet.

Celestron Origin Intelligent Home Observatory: Product Tour

Key Features of the Celestron Origin Telescope

Your Celestron Origin system comes complete with everything you need to become an instant astronomer:

  • 6” RASA optical tube with integrated camera
  • Origin single fork-arm mount with internal lithium battery
  • Built-in computer with cooling fans and WiFi
  • Autofocuser
  • Dew prevention system with environmental sensor, dew heater ring, and dew shield
  • Integrated filter drawer
  • Full-height tripod
  • Lens cap
  • AC charger

RASA Optical Technology

Building on Celestron’s legacy, the Origin features revolutionary RASA Optical Technology: Origin’s patented 6” Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (RASA) optical design in a class of its own. The large aperture and fast f/2.2 focal ratio deliver unmatched brightness and clarity with less exposure time.

For those unfamiliar with RASA, they are the go-to for space surveillance and land satellite tracking. RASA is trusted to detect space junk and even tiny pieces of debris, keeping the satellites safe.

To fully utilize the RASA optics, Celestron chose the Sony IMX178 color CMOS sensor to capture your data. STARVIS back-illuminated technology provides the highest sensitivity and fast readout with low noise. Translation: Super clean images. Fast.

All-in-One Home Observatory

The Celestron Origin is designed to be an all-in-one home observatory. Stargazers will be amazed at how stunning the images of faint, deep sky celestial objects are compared to what the eyepiece of even a larger telescope reveals. In seconds, your astroimaging can be enjoyed and shared via the app.

Built-in AI algorithms autonomously stack and process every frame in real time. You can watch galaxies and nebulae come to life on your screen without user intervention.

Celestron’s patented StarSense technology scans the sky automatically and lists the best available targets in the night sky. There is no need to manually set up your location as the Origin automatically detects its location as soon as you turn it on. You’ll be ready to stargaze in less than two minutes.

User-Friendly App

Developed in partnership with Simulation Curriculum, makers of SkySafari™, The Celestron Origin app is powerful and user-friendly. Available for both iOS and Android, the planetarium interface makes it easy to navigate the sky.

You can cast the Celestron Origin’s feed to a smart TV, or multiple users can use the Origin app and view it simultaneously.

Users can save images to their phone or tablet and share them via social media. For more advanced users or those who enjoy post-processing, the raw images can be downloaded directly from the Celestron Origin via USB.

Filters

When working in areas with light pollution, like a suburban backyard, install optional filters in the built-in drawer. The Origin accepts standard 1.25” and 2” format filters. The removable filters allow users to experiment and create images beyond what standard fixed filters can achieve.

Take It Anywhere

The Celestron Origin is a powerful portable solution weighing less than 16 lb. You can take your observatory anywhere with a built-in rechargeable battery and WiFi (no network required).

Conclusion

The Celestron Origin brings all the power of an observatory to the hobbyist stargazer with a simple and powerful interface. With portability and amazing imaging capabilities, this telescope will revolutionize astroimaging for the serious amateur.

Here’s a sneak preview of a few features that will roll out in the coming months:

  • Compatibility with the StarSense Autoguider
  • Compatibility with the HD Pro Wedge
