Filmmakers have something new and exciting to look forward to when it comes to creating: two new updated versions of the Lightstorm LED lights from the folks over at Aputure, the LS60D and the LS60X. Both Aputure lights look ready to handle the toughest environments with their impressive dust and water resistance. So, let’s jump in and highlight these upcoming releases from Aputure.
The LS60D has a solid 5500K color temperature that’s perfect for shooting outdoors or in rooms that have large windows and natural light. It’s also a great option for matching other lighting fixtures. The LED light can be internally adjusted to control the spot/flood angle from 15° to 45°, and can be controlled even further with the included eight-leaf barn doors.
The LS60D is available for preorder through Adorama.
The LS60X is available for preorder through Adorama.
The LS 60X bi-color LED light has a color temperature range of 2700k to 6500k to meet any ambient light challenge you might face. As with the 60D, it can also be used to match other fixtures, has the same spotlight to medium flood range, and can be modified even further with the eight-leaf barn doors. Light intensity is also adjustable from 0 to 100%.
Both lights can be powered with the included AC adapter, weatherproof DC power connector, Dual Sony-NP-F Battery Plate Adapter, or a V-Mount Battery. All of these power solutions can be mounted onto the V-Mount receiver on the side of the LS 60D or X’s yoke. Additionally, a Bowens Mount adapter lets you continue using the modifiers you already own. Both LS 60 series lights can use the Aputure Spotlight Mini Zoom which is a precision projection attachment for a 15° to 30° variable beam angle.
The LS 60 Softbox is a square softbox that can turn the 60D or X from a hard point-source to a soft light with ease. Both the Softbox and Spotlight Mini Zoom are both sold separately. A nifty carrying case comes with the lights to make transporting them from one location to the next just a little bit easier.
The LS60X and LS60D are available now for preorder at Adorama.
