Known for producing high-quality and innovative lighting solutions, Aputure’s latest offering is sure to revolutionize the way filmmakers and photographers approach creative lighting.

Professionals have used tube-style lights for years. However, the new INFINIBAR addresses a common issue that creatives have had with these lights — the limitation of shapes, connections, and color space. Its individual pixel control makes the INFINIBAR more flexible than traditional tube-style lights. It allows users to be even more creative and dynamic. Let’s explore the features of the INFINIBAR and how it can enhance your next project.

What’s New About the INFINIBAR?

Design

The INFINIBAR boasts a sleek flat design, setting it apart from typical tube lights. It has a frosted diffusion layer that slightly wraps around the sides of the housing. This delivers smooth and glare-free light.

The flat shape also ensures fewer reflections, making it easier to incorporate into scenes. The 24 built-in pixels provide a wide range of options for creative designs. Also, with its intuitive mounting and connecting options, it’s simple to set up. Advanced connectivity methods and integrated battery further enhance its functionality. This makes it the perfect tool for building and bringing colorful, complex scenes to life.

Linking and Power

Linking and powering the INFINIBAR is a breeze thanks to the included straight link adapter that easily connects with Allen screws. With the ability to angle the bars at 90 or 180 degrees, and up to ten brackets available, you can create a wide range of shapes and setups. This allows for practical lighting on set or for creating unique light patterns.

Not only is linking the INFINIBAR easy, but power sharing is also a fantastic feature. When connected, the lights share the load, making it simple to use multiple bars at once without worrying about draining your batteries too quickly. With secure attachments and the ability to control the light and color from any direction, the INFINIBAR gives you the freedom to create almost any shape or lighting setup you can imagine.

Control

The PB3, PB6, and PB12 all offer advanced wireless connectivity options for complete control over its 24 pixels. You can group and control the pixels using Sidus Link, LumenRadio CRMX, or wired DMX using Aputure’s USB-C to DMX Adapter.

It also features critical color controls such as advanced HSI with white-point adjustability, RGB, and XY, giving you full creative freedom. With nine built-in system FX and seven Pixel FX, you can easily toggle between different light modes or save up to 20 custom FX in the Sidus Link app for quick access.

Output

The wrap-around effect produces a 120-degree beam angle from the front and just over the sides. Merging multiple lights into a single fixture creates a tiny seam between them that disappears, especially at around 2% and higher light output. This improvement is a game-changer. This is especially true when compared to tube lights, which tend to have a large gap between them when butted up against each other.

Shooting at 100% output produces an incredibly bright light, making the INFINIBAR appropriate for night shoots. Thanks to its high output, you can shoot at higher T stops to achieve better depth of field.

The SidusPro App allows for even more granular control by selecting individual pixels and choosing specific colors for each LED. User control and animations are fantastic, even if the output is not as strong when using only a few LEDs. With the app’s sequence and mapping options, users can explore almost infinite uses.

Build Quality

Despite its 3.5 to 6 lb. weight (depending on the model), the INFINIBAR boasts an extremely durable aluminum housing. This makes it suitable for any shooting environment. Whether used independently or linked together, its built-in magnets, INFINIBAR Rail, and Baby Pin Clamp system, plus two 1/4-20in threads, allow for easy mounting. The built-in 14.8Wh Lithium battery allows the INFINIBAR to operate at maximum output for 120 minutes. With a 10′ DC cord on one side and a 6′ AC cord on the other, it is designed to last for years to come. It can withstand a fair amount of wear and tear.
