Apple first developed the Macintosh in 1984 and consumers have seen incredible strides and improvements ever since. But the latest upgrade may be the most impressive. The new Apple iMac desktop combines the most powerful processor to date, a dazzling new graphics card, and 4K and 5K Retina displays — perfect for the professional designer or the small business owner.

Turbo-boosted processors:

Apple is drastically increasing processor performance in the new iMac desktop. The 21.5-inch model supports up to an 8th-generation 6-core processor, while the 27-inch model can be upgraded 9th-generation 8-core processor. The result is 60 percent faster performance in the 21.5-inch and 2.4-times faster performance in the 27-inch. That’s 4.6GHz and 5.0GHz, respectively. Such enhancements create a noticeable difference when editing photos, color-correcting footage, composing in music software, and while gaming.

Users have the option of upgrading the RAM to 64GB to truly increase performance. Also, the iMac desktop can be configured with up to a 3TB Fusion Drive or a 2TB solid-state drive for quick access to a hefty amount of storage.

Improved graphics:

The new iMac desktop now comes standard with a Radeon Pro Vega graphics card. Radeon has long been a reputable name in visuals, and further facilitates designers’ creativity. Creators will enjoy crafting 3D graphics and adding heavy video-editing effects 80 percent faster on the 21.5-inch and 50 percent faster on the 27-inch. Graphics rendering has never felt so fast.

Crystal-clear displays:

The new iMac also offers a 4K display on the 21.5-inch and a 5K display on the 27-inch. This translates into 14.7-million pixels, one billion colors, 500 nits of brightness, and a wide viewing angle. Needless to say, images and videos are crisp and defined. Whether you’re binging the latest TV show or editing detailed 4K footage, you’ll be visually pleased.

Compatible design:

The Apple iMac has a variety of users with different workspaces, so Apple devised their desktop to fit everyone’s office. The iMac has a profile of only five millimeters, matching keyboard and mouse, and a slim glass enclosure to take the clutter out of creating. The desktop includes multiple USB and Thunderbolt inputs for rapid data transfer or connecting another monitor. Lastly, a gigabit ethernet input, headphone jack, and SD card slot is included.
