Adobe Photoshop CS6 was launched today, marking the release of the most powerfull, fastest version of Photoshop to date. Released as a public beta on March 22, Adobe reports nearly a million downloads to date. Available as stand-alone software or as components of Adobe CS6, Photoshop CS6 offers the following new features:

  • Content Aware Patch—lets users control sample area used to create a patch
  • Mercury Graphics Engine—Adobe claims reduced processing times for large images
  • New and Re-Engineered Deisgn Tools
  • Intuitive Video Creation
  • Blur Gallery

In addition, CS6 Extended also offers:

  • Increased 3D rendering power
  • New 3D controls
  • New 3D effects

Finally, Adobe unveiled Creative Cloud, which will give members access to new CS6 applications and offer integration with tablet applications such as Photoshop Touch into everyday work. Results, according to Adobe, can be easily shared and delivered via mobile apps.

Adobe Photoshop CS6 and CS6 Extended are scheduled to be available within the month, for $699 for Mac or Windows, and $999 also for Mac or Windows, respectively. Creative cloud membership will cost $49.99 or $74.99 per month, depending on membership plan chosen.

Adobe Unveils Fast, Feature-Packed Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CS6 Extended

Adobe Creative Cloud members will receive access to application upgrades, including new Photoshop features – before they are launched as part of a major update, as well as inventive new products and services, as they emerge.
