The Zeiss Milvus 35mm f/1.4 features a focus ring with a long focus rotation—227 degrees—which promotes precise manual focus control, a feature that is especially helpful for videographers. Also helpful to videographers is the de-click feature, which lets you change the aperture ring from 1/2-stop clicks and continuous, silent aperture control with no clicks.
As the tenth lens in Zeiss’s Milvus lens line, the 35mm f/1.4 is designed to match the color characteristics of its nine sibling lenses. This lets filmmakers switch between focal lengths and retain a uniform look, saving post-production time and resources.
The lens features newly designed aspherical lens elements, special glass materials and advanced correction, which Zeiss claims will produce photos that are practically free from chromatic aberrations, while maintaining edge-to-edge sharpness. The lenses are built to project an optimal image for high-resolution digital sensors.
The Zeiss Milvus 35mm f/1.4 lens will be available in the ZF.2 for Nikon F-mount DSLRs and in the ZE Canon EOS DSLR mount from Adorama starting in July for . They can be pre-ordered now. Credit cards will not be charged until order ships.
