There have been a few apps that have been updated last week in the storytelling & editing space. I’m glad that it continues to be so active. Here are the weeks updates:
PTCH mutes backround noise, Backspaces improves UI and bugs, Videolicious adds trim feature, Frameblast updates camera recording and adds story templates.
PTCH:
One of my long-time favorite storytelling tools is an app called PTCH. The latest update includes two features worth noting. The first is the ability to mute the background music on videos. This feature is long overdue. It’s always been a small gripe that I’ve had, and I’m glad they finally added it. The second feature is the grouping of media assets by date. This is a feature that we are starting to see added in other storytelling apps.
What’s New in Version 2.0.2
- Photos/Videos now grouped by date
- Added ability to mute background music on videos
- Bug fixes
BackSpaces:
Backspaces is really making a name for itself among some of the old-school Instagrams. I’ve seen maybe 10 or 20 Instagram users really starting to use backspaces on a regular basis. Good to see the guys work on the app and fix some of the early bugs. I’m definitely a fan of its photo-story format.
What’s New in Version 1.3.2
- This release contains some critical bug fixes and interface improvements.
- New push control settings: if you allowed push notifications in the past, they will be reset in this update. They are accessible in the settings menu.
Videolicious:
Videolicious is a fantastic storytelling tool. I’m really impressed with this update and the addition of a video trim feature is a welcome addition. Video clips can now be selected and trimmed prior to filming yourself or recording a voiceover.
What’s New in Version 2.6
- Press the edit button in Step 1 below your shots, then tap on a shot. You’ll be able to choose a section of a video or photo to highlight before Videolicious automatically layers your shots together in the next step.
Framblast:
Frameblast has updated its interface. The video camera app now records three seconds just by tapping it once. You can also hold the button to record pretty much any length of video. New templates and styles were added to the videos filters. The updated app crashed on me twice. I was using my iPhone 5 so keep that in mind before you upgrade. This version doesn’t seem to be that stable.
