Be sure to check out the latest iPhone Videoography updates. Our weekly roundup this week includes Vine, YouTube, Cinemagram, Viddy and Tout.

Vine allows users to unfollow Editor’s Picks, YouTube sends to TV, Cinemagram improves tagging, Viddy records at 30s and gets major update, and Tout adds suggested hashtags. Remember that the Adorama iPhone Toolshed offers iPhoneographers anything you need to make it easier and more convenient to shoot photos and videos with your iPhone.

VINE:

Vine added some minor updates this week, and one of those feature will make a lot of users very happy. You can now turn off the Editor’s Picks, which were showing up in each user’s homepage. To unfollow editor’s picks, go to settings_preferences_Turn off Editor’s Picks. I was surprised by the backlash from users regarding the editor’s picks. I suppose Vine users just don’t want content forced on them, even if it happens to be amazingly creative. I can’t really blame them. When upgrading, you will need to confirm that you’re 17 or over, because the appcontains age-restricted material.

What’s New in Version 1.0.6

  • Follow or unfollow Editor’s Picks. Set your preference in Profile > Settings.
  • Feeds no longer refresh automatically when coming back to them from another screen
  • Bug fixes and other miscellaneous improvements

YOUTUBE:

YouTube added a few cool features. You can now play YouTube videoon a TV from your Phone. You will need to pair your iOS device with one of the TV devices. It works with Smart TVs (2011, 2012), PlayStation 3, Wii U, some web-enabled Blu-ray players, TiVo premiere, Xbox 360 and Google TV. There are links to individual videos that demonstate exactly how to pair your device. It’s a neat feature that is well-implemented.

What’s New in Version 1.2.1

  • Send to TV: control YouTube on TV, Xbox or Sony PS3 from the app
  • Improved streaming over slow WiFi connection
  • Ability to record and upload video via YouTube Capture

Cinemagram:

Cinemagram also continues to upgrade its app. They added @ mentions, which is a critical feature that allows users to communicate with friends in comments and within Cine captions. Verified accounts is a feature that they also just added and it required you to send a text message with a unique code to complete the process. They also tweaked the app user interface. I like the big, bold orange capture button.

What’s New in Version 1.24

  • Mentions: Tag your friends in comments and captions
  • Get Verified! Verify your account today to get a cinemagram verified badge.
  • Beautiful new layout; The app is a lot more fun to use!

Viddy:

Viddy has introduced thebiggest app update this week, and I’m not just talking about their new logo in the App Store.Theyno longer have a 15-second record limit. Movie recording has been doubled to 30 seconds. This is a huge change for the app, but it gets better: The camera user interface looks and functions a lot like Vine. It now has pause recording enabled, which means filming multiple segments is now a breeze, as is stop-motion animation. I’ve never been a fan of Viddy’s video filters, but it looks like they’ve been given a complete overhaul and they have added 15 new ones. Just like Cinemagram, they have added account verification for brands and celebs. I also like the implementation of active hashtags and @ mentions, which makes the overall interaction with friends so much better. I haven’t tried out the YouTube annotation yet but its a great feature to be able to connect to YouTube videos. Overall , it’s an serious upgrade and well worth downloading.

What’s New in Version 2.1

  • Longer videos (30 seconds)
  • The ability to pause recording allows for filming multiple segments in one video
  • Toggle-based brightness/contrast and volume controls for video editing
  • Simulate stop-motion capture with simple toggle-based frame rate adjustments (6, 12, 24, 30 FPS options)
  • 15 all new filters ranging from vintage to sepia to x-pro with live rendering
  • All new music tracks from popular artists like Snoop Lion, Fun. and Grouplove with real-time previewing
  • Simplified video descriptions with active hashtags, @ mentions and links
  • Swipe-based navigation for quick access to entertaining videos and interesting people
  • All new Explore section with curated video categories and trending hashtags
  • Geo-feeds supporting video discovery by region and current location
  • Socially relevant Home feed featuring content based on user affinity and preferences
  • Verified user program for celebrities, influencers and brands
  • YouTube annotations, allowing users to easily link out to YouTube videos
  • Localized in 16 languages:

TOUT:

Tout has a few small upgrades this week. They have improved Facebook and Twitter integration and rolled out suggsted #hastags when creating new content.

What’s New in Version 3.7.1

  • Easier to connect with Facebook and Twitter
  • Suggested hashtags when creating new Touts
  • More user experience improvements and bug fixes
