Thank you to Bryan Peterson for judging the competition!Without further ado, the winners are:

Grand Jury Sellection:

“Roadside 2” by ctoc

“Star-filled sky with lone road at bottom of frame and parked pick-up truck! I love this shot most of all because it seems to capture another time. I think of James Dean from the classic movie, Rebel Without a Cause, or just as easily find myself thinking of the late sixties, long before this current stranglehold of technology had us in its grip. And so there is no discrepancy in what I just said regarding our current technology, this image, could have just as easily been taken with a camera from the sixties on Kodachrome slide film with the shutter speed dial set to B, (time exposure). I wanted to also add that due to the extremely low horizon line placement, one is quickly humbled as the size and the scope of our universe is so vividly showcased. Bravo on the lens choice and the vertical composition that gives rise to the night sky! I wish it was mine!” – Bryan Peterson

First Runner Up Selection:

“Hatteras-Light-Star-Trails small” by batman27976

“Another unexpected image for me and therein lies much of the reason why I chose it. I have seen my share of lighthouses, surrounded by ‘quiet surf’ due to a lengthy exposure, but NEVER have I seen a lighthouse with star trails done so effectively. Despite the centering of the lighthouse in the composition, it is important to note that the lighthouse is against a backdrop of the suggested and constant movement of the curvilinear lines of the star trails and thus an image that, as far as the viewer is concerned, will never sit still, never become static.” – Bryan Peterson

Second Runner Up:

“Sea Attack” by SoniaM

“I love the ocean and pyramid rocks all placed near the bottom third to allow the real star of the show here, the sky, to do its job of ‘exploded’ across the top two thirds of the frame during what I’m guessing is two-four minutes of exposure. I give this image major kudos for its overall spot on exposure too in terms of the overall distribution of balanced lighting throughout. This vast and ‘exploding’ sky also brings a wonderful sense of scale to the landscape below.” – Bryan Peterson
