New York, NY (PRWEB) May 11, 2009 — Adorama has officially launched TechTock , an exclusive blog covering the world of photography and photo-related technology. An extension of the Adorama Learning Center , which was re-launched last week, TechTock will include frequent postings and podcasts, and will complement the Adorama Learning Center’s extensive collection of photo tips, how-to articles, camera and accessory reviews and buying guides, as well as its daily-updated News Desk.

Podcast interviews

TechTock launched with podcast interviews with photographer David Bergman, whose Gigapan photo of the Presidential inauguration has gone viral, and NASA Still Photographer Ben Cooper. The blog will include equipment reviews, insights into current trends, and behind-the-scenes looks at goings on in the world of photography.

Meet Jack Howard

TechTock is hosted by Jack Howard, who has joined the Adorama editorial team as the Director of New and Social Media. Howard, an experienced photojournalist, was until recently the Editor of PopPhoto.com, the online home of Popular Photography and American Photo magazines.

“Jack brings real-world photographic experience, fresh energy and ideas, as well as the web savvy to pull it off,” notes Adorama Learning Center Editor Mason Resnick. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to our world-class team of photographic experts.”

An interactive community

As with any blog, TechToch will give visitors the opportunity to post comments on blog posts. “There is a different interaction between the viewer and the content on-screen, compared to the printed word and image,” notes Jack Howard. “We’ll work to maximize the interactive experience with the subjects we feature.” Visitors can follow TechTock via a dedicated Twitter stream or by subscribing to its RSS feed, or simply by bookmarking this page.

Adorama Learning Center: history and backgrounder

Adorama has been posting editorial content for photographers since 2003, first as the Adorama Academy, then the Adorama Imaging Resource Center (AIRC). The editorial site was re-launched last week with a new look, more interactivity and social web friendliness, and a new name: The Adorama Learning Center. The goal was–and still is–to provide extensive, free information for photographers at all experience levels, from snapshooters to professionals, so they can make more informed buying decisions and take better pictures with the gear they’ve purchased.

Over the past six years over 3,000 articles and tips have been published. Under the Adorama Learning Center, new features include easier social network bookmarking, user comments and ratings for each article, a better-looking presentation and more logical and flexible navigation tools, as well as the TechTock blog.

“This is the latest exciting step in the evolution of Adorama’s editorial offerings,” notes Adorama Learning Center Editor Mason Resnick. “It is exciting to be part of a retailer that gets the concept that the Internet is about building relations and sharing knowledge, and that these relationships are, ultimately, good for business because smarter customers are more likely to make buying decisions they’ll be happy with. Look for much more compelling content, and more new media features, going forward.”

The Adorama Learning Center is a division of Adorama Camera, Inc., which is based in New York City, and is one of the largest camera retailers in the United States. Adorama serves professional photographers, photo enthusiasts, and snapshooters with a wide range of cameras and a deep selection of lenses, tripods and other accessories. Adorama also sells a growing selection of consumer and business electronics products, including flat-screen TVs, office equipment, GPS devices.
