Sony today entered the cloud. The electronics giant announced the PlayMemories series, a cloud-based image storage and interactive service that will be provided for free. PlayMemories consists of four parts:
PlayMemories Home will be bundled with Sony’s digital imaging products starting this month, and Android and iOS apps will be available for PlayMemories mobile via their respective App stores.
In addition, Sony announced a new rugged Bloggie and three compact cameras:
The Bloggie Sport: A ruggedized pocket camcorder that shoots 1080p Full HD video at 30 fps and 5.1MP stills. It is waterproof (to over 30 feet), dustproof and shockproof (droppable to around 4 feet), and has a 2.7-inch LCD.
DSC-W610 ($110 list): A budget-priced 14MP compact with a 26mm (35mm equivalent) 4x lens, 2.7-inch screen, 360-degree sweep panorama, image stabilization, and Intelligent auto everything.
DSC-W620 ($120 list): Pretty much th same as the DSC-W610 but with 4 picture effects, 720p HD video, and a 28mm lens.
DSC-W650 ($150 list): A 16MP compact with a 5x zoom lens that starts at a wider-than-average 25mm (35mm equivalent). Similar to the W620 but with Optical Steady Shot for smoother videos.

Taking advantage of the extremely high processing power of PS3®, users can freely zoom and scroll videos and photos, and even easily edit HD video content as if they were playing a game. Crisp handling of large-sized images which has been unimaginable in the past has now become possible on PS3® with this application. Handling the images has become as comfortable as playing a game by using a DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller. Also, it is possible to remotely use the service with PlayStation®Vita or PSP® (PlayStation Portable) , via Remote Play*1.
A free trial version of the application for a limited time will be available.
Organizing & Viewing: In addition to the videos and photos stored on PS3®, content stored on cameras, external hard drives and storage devices connected via USB can be viewed without the need to transfer to PS3®. Also, users can easily search and sort images by date or location.
Editing: By using action tags, adding visual/sound effects such as slow motion and frame by frame playback or inserting captions and scripts to the images are as easy and enjoyable as playing a game.

Small Cameras, Big Features
The compact DSC-W610, DSC-W620 and DSC-W650 cameras feature Sony’s new 360° Sweep Panorama™ mode. Users can now capture beautiful, seamless 360 degree panoramic images of the entire surrounding landscape with one easy “press and sweep” motion. Multiple images are automatically stitched together to create one stunning, detailed panoramic photo.
Additionally, the “Intelligent Auto” mode allows the cameras to automatically optimize camera settings based on the external environment.
