Samsung has overhauled its entire still digital camera lineup, introducing a new generation of cameras that borrow heavily from smartphone-type image sharing technology. From the flagship NX300, an interchangeable-lens model that is also the world’s first one-lens 3D system, on down to budget compacts, all new models have integrated Wi-Fi and easy access to sharing images and videos on social networks. Pricing and availability have not been announced but expect the entire line to be available at Adorama.

Samsung NX300

Samsung NX300

The Samsung NX300 is the third generation of the Samsung mirrorless interchangeable lens compact camera line, accompanied by a new Samsung 45mm f/1.8 lens that doubles as both a 2D and 3D capture lens for stills and movies. First, the camera: the NX300 has a 20MP APS-CMOS sensor with a wide ISO range of 100-25600, Hybrid Autofocus, which combines phase and contrast detection methods of focus capture, and a top shutter speed of 1/6000 sec and an 8.6fps continuous mode. The camera also captures full 1080p HD video in both 2D and 3D. It is backed by a 3.3-inch touch screen LCD. The camera continues the trailblazing i-Function system, which lets users adjust exposure and other functions using a lens ring.

The NX300 lets users share images between their camera and iOS or Android device via the Samsung Smart Camera app. Users can share images via the camera’s one-touch Direct Link hot key, or images can be automatically backed up into cloud-based storage.

Samsung WB250F

The Samsung WB250F is a superzoom model featuring an 18x o-tical zoom, 14MB BSI CMOS sensor (a less expensive model, the WB200F, uses a 14MB CCD sensor). It is operated via a touch LCD screen and 5-way navigation keys. Features include Best Face, which automatically selects the best facial expressions from a burst shot to create group photos where everyone looks their best, as well as SMART Mode and Motion Photo features, allowing users to achieve pro-standard quality and creativity under any condition. With the addition of Wi-Fi capabilities, users can share high-quality photos quickly and easily. The WB250F has a pop-up flash and is available in white, cobalt black, gun metal, and red.

Smart Cameras

Here’s a quick look at Samsung’s compacts, which they refer to as “Smart Cameras.”

Samsung WB800F

The Samsung WB800F has a 21x optical zoom lens, a 16.3MP BSI CMOS sensor, and a hybrid user interface that lets you operate the camera via either physical controls or a touch screen.

The Samung WB30F is a slim 17mm thick compact with a 10x optical zoom that starts at 24mm, and includes Live Panorama and Magic Frame technologies.

Samsung DV150F

The Samsung DV150F has a 2.7-inch front LCD, especially helpful for self-portraits. A Beauty Palette feature lets you apply a variety of make-up looks. Smart Filter 3.0, Motion Photo and Magic Frame also apply creative composition and effects automatically. The camera is built around a 16MP CCD sensor, and its 5x optical zoom starts at 25mm and has a maximum aperture of f/2.5. And, of course, it is Wi-Fi ready. The Samsung ST150F is basically the same as the DT150F, but without the front LCD.
