Rode Wireless GO: Hands-On Review

With so much competition in today’s media, it can be hard for creators to make their work stand out. I know the impact that good audio can have on my productions. This is why I always make sure I have a multitude of reliable and convenient sources. One of those is my trusty Rode Wireless GO system.

Professional quality audio has always been a priority for me as a wedding filmmaker and online content creator. Throughout the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a range of solutions including audio recorders, shotgun microphones, and the default microphones on my cameras. Although these can produce excellent audio, none of them are very easy or convenient. The Rode Wireless GO system has been a great solution. It has a wireless microphone system that delivers clear audio, is lightweight, and has a built-in condenser microphone in the transmitter.

Rode Wireless GO Key Features

  • Operates as a clip-on microphone or belt pack transmitter for a lavalier/headset microphone
  • Built-in condenser microphone delivers broadcast-quality sound
  • TX and RX have rechargeable batteries, charged via USB-C
  • Up to 7 hours on a full charge including a battery-saver mode
  • TX and RX are only 31 grams
  • Transmitter and receiver pair in just 3 seconds

My Favorite Features

  • Small and compact form factor
  • Ultra-lightweight
  • Affordable compared to other audio solutions

The compact footprint of the Rode Wireless GO makes it very accessible for travel. This allows creators to get broadcast-quality audio from a system that can easily fit into a jacket pocket. Weighing in at a mere 31 grams, the transmitter fits in the palm of your hand and removes the need to carry an additional lavalier microphone.

To add, the high-quality built-in condenser microphone features attachments for a deadcat allowing wind noise to be easily reduced. The receiver is just as lightweight as the transmitter, also weighing in at 31 grams. Additionally, it pairs to the transmitter in only 3 seconds and has a three-stage gain control. This makes it super easy for creators to get the best sound levels for any situation.

The Rode Wireless GO provides creators with a convenient wireless setup while delivering broadcast-quality sound. It’s necessary to include the Rode Wireless GO in your creative toolkit considering the endless ways you can use the versatile system. Given the affordable price, this product can be a game changer for today’s creators.
