Following up on the user favorite GR II, Ricoh has just announced its newest premium compact camera: the Ricoh GR III. Known popularly as “The Ultimate Snap Shooter,” the latest camera in the GR concept is meant to help users upgrade their street photography game, in s snap.

The GR III’s high image quality, quick response, and lightweight, and portable body make it an easy carry-along unit that can join you on any photo journey. An improved lens and sensor (compared to the GR II) and a new intuitive touch screen makes it an easy-to-use camera in a mobile package.

Key features:

  • APS-C (23.5mm x 15.6mm) sensor, 24.23 Megapixels
  • 14bit RAW DNG
  • 15MP at a 35mm crop and 7MP at 50mm crop
  • 28mm lens with 6 elements in 4 groups (2 aspherical lens elements)
  • New Ricoh GR Engine 6
  • 3-inch touch LCD screen
  • Bluetooth BLE connectivity

The Ricoh GR III features an APS-C sensor with a built-in 24.23 Megapixels and 14bit RAW DNG that all allow photographers to capture more powerful tonality and allow for far greater options when it comes to RAW image editing. The new sensor — and the high-performance GR Engine 6 — boosts contrast and colors with a redesigned optical lens. The high-powered processor, image algorithms, as well as the lens construction, contribute to the higher-contrast images.

The .8-second startup time (compared to the previous 1 second) means a quicker response, so candid moments won’t be missed. Slow shutter speeds up to 1/4 second help to create crisp images with zero blur, and noise is further reduced when using the Shake Reduction System.

The 28mm fixed focal length lens has 6 elements in 4 groups (and 2 aspherical lens elements) that has boosted macro performance and higher resolution with less ghosting and flare overall.

The camera’s 3-inch touch LCD screen responds to tap, swipe, pinch-in, and pinch-out gestures, and is surrounded by a newly-designed button layout that is more intuitive with standard operations. The more compact design and Wireless LAN and Bluetooth capabilities mean you can take it with you wherever you are and share your photos instantly.

The Ricoh GR III Digital Camera is available for preorder now for  at Adorama.
