We don’t know if it’s the upcoming PhotoPlus Expo, the cooler weather, or the rapidly approaching holiday season, but whatever it is, there’s a lot of cool things buzzing about the old interweb for photographers right now. Here’s quick list of things that have caught my eye in the past few days.
October means Baseball Playoffs
And one of our favorite baseball photographers, Brad Mangin, has a brand-new website sharing his experiences and amazing images. We talked to Brad on TechTock Podcast #12 and you know he’s loving every minute of his assignments right now, and it shows.
Here’s great Halloween Costume idea for Photographers!
We came across this What the Duck costume on the What the Duck Facebook fan page.
LiveBooks Resolve Blog offers a great tip for getting published
Gene Higa Tip of the Week 10/12/09 – RESOLVE Blog from liveBooks on Vimeo.
This is a great tip. Know the submission guidelines, and ask for the upcoming plan. Almost every magazine has rough outlines of the next several issues, long before they are actively hunting for art. Thanks to Miki Johnson of Livebooks for pointing me this this!
Vivian Maier, Chicago Street Photographer
Follow this link. Be amazed. Fantastic images. Curious story as to how these images came to light.
Art Wolfe Talks about the ever-changing light
Great lessons and amazing images to be gleaned from this short presentation for a legendary wildlife photographer. A few minutes well spent.
5 Reasons to Hire a Photojournalist
Seattle P-I alum Andrea James offers up 5 great reasons to hire photojournalists for your photo assignment needs. Great points!
On the subject of Videojournalism, check this out: KobreGuide
Ken Kobre’s Photojournalism, The Professionals’ Approach is in its sixth edition, and last year, Kobre started the KobreGuide to Videojournalism as a companion site to the newest edition. The site showcases powerful visual imagery. Well worth a bookmark.
Kobre also invented the Lightscoop, a great little pop-up flash “improver.”
Pro Sales rep Jeff Snyder does a cameo in this video
Check out Adorama’s Jeff Snyder making a guest spot in this trailer for the Understanding Photoshop panoramic iPhone/iPod Touch video series!
And in closing: Um. Yeah. OK. This is different.
By the way, we sell this camera if you want to make your own Helicopter Boyz in Yomuiri Land response video.
That’s it for this week, folks. Next week should be interesting for any number of reasons. Trade shows are always great times for new products, cross-pollination of ideas, and discovering great new sites, and such. Mason and I will be working double-time to cover the show and keep you updated on cool gear, and cool sites to check out. Maybe we’ll even see you at the show!
