November, 2009 — Aiming to satisfy the photographer’s needs, Manfrotto has updated its ball head family to be the ideal support for your camera. Manfrotto ball heads are known for their smooth control and precise movements, but now Manfrotto has added key new features that make these already great ball heads even better.

The ball heads have been completely updated to be more ergonomic, easier to handle and lighter weight with increased payloads ranging from 4.4 lbs to 17.6 lbs. The ergonomic shape of the knob allows the user to better lock the ball.

A new friction control knob allows micro movements without having to engage the head locking mechanisms (present in all models except the small 492 head).

  • The elliptical lines and curves match the design of the latest Manfrotto tripods.
  • A smart ratcheting locking lever allows the user to place it in a comfortable position in order to use it in the most convenient way. Just pull it outwards, put it in the best working position, and then release it. This makes working with the head easier and quicker.
  • The locking lever securely locks the head both in the +90º and -90º ball positions and in the 360º pan movements.

The new ball head models include:
