Phottix Indra500 TTL Light
Take a gander at the Phottix Indra500, a 500WS studio light that works with Canon and Nikon DSLRs via Phottix’s Odin TTL flash trigger. This feature-packed flash offers high-speed sync up to 1/8000 sec, TTL, Manual and Stroboscopic modes, manual power adjustment down to 1/128, wireless radio control, built-in receivers for Nikon and Canon systems, LED modeling lights, and both AC and battery operation (up to 400 full-power shots when using the Indra Battery Pack, with 2-second recycle times. Each light weighs 4 pounds, 10 ounces, and is designed for both studio and location work. The Phottix Indra500 will cost $1,295 for a light and battery set.
Epson SureColor P600 Printer
Calling it the industry’s most advanced 13-inch photo printer, Epson has announced the Epson SureColor P600, designed for professional and advanced amateur photographers. The pigment ink-based printer uses the next generation Epson UltraChrome HD pigment inks and is said to produce vivid color and exhibition-quality black-and-white prints. The printer can handle both bordered and borderless prints up to 13×19 inches on a wide variety of glossy, matte, and fine-art papers, plus roll support for panoramas over 10 feet long. A 3.5-inch color LCD touchscreen offers control and preview capabilities, and the printer is operable via Wi-Fi networks as well as USB and Ethernet. The Epson SureColor P600 will be available in early 2015 for $799.
Tether Tools AeroTab
Tether Tools has figured out a convenient way to mount tablet computers on a tripod head using the AeroTab Universal Tablet Mount. Using a 1/4″-20, 3/8″ c-stand stud or Arca style swiss tripod adapter, you can now mount any sized tablet using the adjustable mount on your tripod. TetherTools also announced an OTG USB Cable Adapter, which connects Android and Windows tablets to your camera.
Hahnemule Introduces Photo Pearl 310 Paper
Hanhemule added a new surface—Photo Pearl 310—to its lineup of fine-art paper for professional photographers. It has a pearlescent surface and features a high-quality ink absorbing layer for detailed sharpness. It is quick drying and water-resistant. It has a 310 g/m Polyethelene-coated paper substrate, and is available in 8.5×11-17×22 inches in 25-sheet boxes, and in rolls up to 60 inches wide.
Innova Art Reboots
Paper maker Innova Art announced a new logo and tagline—and a new FibaPrint Baryta paper. Modeled on traditional baryta papers found in chemical darkrooms, the new surface is claimed to recreate the look and feel of a darkroom print. Available in cut sheets and rolls, the paper features a neutral white base for rich black-and-white prints and an extreme color gamut that they say looks and feels like silver halide prints.
