In the constantly changing landscape of image creation, each new generation of cameras become more capable of producing spectacular stills and breathtaking videos. Photographers are often tasked with shooting video and stills. Isn’t it time our lights became just as versatile? Light & Motion is bridging the gap between photo and video lighting with the first true Continuous Strobe Hybrid (CSH) light. The StellaPro Reflex and StellaPro Reflex S are both hybrid lights boasting up to 9,000 lumens of light (6,000 lumens on battery power) to shape your motion projects. It also has a Digital Burst mode, up to 20 frames per second at full power, to capture stills. All these features are packed into a unit that weighs less than two pounds and can run from a small battery or constant USB power.

StellaPro Reflex and StellaPro Reflex S

Photographers can switch seamlessly between constant and Digital Burst modes for perfect stills and video capture. Wedding shooters can now record clips from the dance floor, life advice from grandma, and then quickly freeze the action as cousin Mabel catches the bouquet.

The Digital Burst mode syncs with your camera via Elinchrom or Godox remote triggers. It also offers 18,000 lumens of power in bursts up to 20 FPS (StellaPro Reflex S). In Digital Burst, there is never a worry about overheating, recycling times, or misfires. Need to freeze that perfect reaction or smile? A dancer’s leap? A basketball dunk contest? With 1 millisecond duration at 20 FPS (StellaPro Reflex S) and 5 milliseconds at 10 FPS for StellaPro Reflex, Light & Motion has you covered.

In addition, a creator can sync multiple StellaPro Reflexes together. Meanwhile, this can cover a wider area or create cinematic lighting for portraits and interviews. When time is short, the ability to film an interview with that celebrity or CEO on a tight schedule, then switch to Digital Burst for crisp natural portraits, is invaluable.

For instance, see the burst power in the shots below:

StellaPro Reflex & StellaPro Reflex S Key Features:

  • The first true Continuous Strobe Hybrid light. Seamlessly switch between Continuous (9,000 lumens with 100W power Supply / 6,000 lumens with untethered battery) and Digital Burst lighting; up to 10FPS at full power, with a flash duration of 5ms (Reflex), up to 20 FPS at full power, with a lightning-quick flash duration of 1ms (Reflex S)
  • Perfect for Wedding, Action/Sports, Portraiture, Adventure, Cinematic, Editorial/News, or Casual lighting
  • Lightweight (<2lbs including the swappable, rechargeable USB-C battery handle), ultra-portable, IP-65 water resistance, 1-meter impact resistant
  • Modifier-ready (works with a wide array of modifiers including Chimera softboxes, Spider holsters, and more!)
  • Easy-To-Mount, supports multiple remote triggers (including Elinchrom and Godox)

Ultra-portable lights

Weighing in at 1.7lb (785grams), including the swappable, USB-C connected battery handle, the 23x10x10cm StellaPro Reflex easily fits in your camera bag, backpack, or in your Spider Holster. Additionally, mount it easily to a stand with Bowens and Profoto C-Stand adapters. Finally, these connect directly to the light head or to the battery grip. In other words, this unit feels at home in the studio and on location.

Power and Control

Let’s take a second to talk about how we use light. Power and specifications are great, but how will the lights help us create the photos and video we imagine? The StellaPro Reflex supports a suite of Chimera Octo and SuperPro softboxes and lightbanks. For instance, this allows us to shape and soften our light for portraits and interviews. It can also illuminate our brides with smooth flattering light.

When we take the StellaPro Reflex to the field to capture images of athletes in their environment, we have the option of hard punchy direct light with enough power to get the job done. On location whether for a wedding or adventure sports event you can be sure the StellaPro Reflex will stand up to the conditions. While not waterproof, the IP rating of IP65 means the light is “protected against water jets from any angle” as well as dust, according to Light & Motion.

Versatility

With the Light & Motion’s “The Bar”, up to five StellaPro Reflexes can be easily clipped to one stand, allowing you to harness the power and versatility of the multiple Reflexes for the same setup.

Additionally, the included USB-C battery provides 15,000 full-powered flashes or 30 minutes of 6,000 lumens constant light so creators can focus on creating. Therefore, if your job requires a bit more time or power a 100W Power supply (USB-C or DTAP) can have you running all day with 9,000 lumens output!

One Light. Every Shot. This simple tagline captures the mission of the StellaPro Reflex. Above all, from what I see, this mission has been accomplished.
