Now it’s your turn to critique shots by Jack, Mason, and the rest of the PhotoZAP team. Don’t worry–we can take all the honest, constructive critiques you can throw our way. All we ask is that you keep in the spirit of ZAP and be honest, informative, and opinionated in your review.
The PhotoZAP critiques have quickly become one of the most popular features in the Adorama Learning Center. And while you may not always agree with us–shoot, oftentimes we can’t agree with one another–you’ll have to agree that the PhotoZAP critiques are a fun and informative way to help Adorama Learning Center fans and friends improve their photography.
And just to show you we can take critiques as well as we can give, we’re introducing a new occasional feature, ZAP the ZAPPERS!
Here’s how this is going to work:
- Every couple of weeks, we’ll post a new ZAP the ZAPPERS piece with a shot made by one of the regular PhotoZAP critiquers.
- The shot caption will include tech specs and any relevant post-production tweaks and adjustments.
- But it will not include the photographer’s statement or self-critique. Instead, this information will have been sent to a different PhotoZAP editor for a period of at least one week or ten reader-submitted critiques; whichever comes first.
- Here’s the deal–we may love, hate, or be indifferent about the shot we’ve posted, and we don’t want to pre-color the conversation, hence the hidden self-critique.
- ZAP the ZAPPERS is meant to be taken in the same spirit of learning as our regular PhotoZAP critiques. Be brutally honest, be informative and entertaining, and have some fun with it!
- Don’t be abusive, offensive, or use foul and indecent language in the comments. These will be deleted immediately.
- If you think a photo stinks, tell us why! Flex those creative muscles and explain why it doesn’t work. Same goes for if you think a shot works!
- Have fun!
We’re going to launch this with four ZAP the ZAPPERS shot by Jack Howard of Novak Djokavic at Day 3 of the the 2010 US Open Tennis tournament. (Thumbnails seen above.)
