Born in the United Kingdom Doug moved, with his family, to the west coast of Canada at a young age. There he soon fell in love with the wild rugged coast and mountains of British Columbia, spending as much of his school holidays as possible camping among the many provincial parks. A year in London at the age of 17 opened his eyes to the greater world and after returning home to Canada it wasn't long before he was hitching his way to Central America where he was taken under the wing of a number of picture agencies. Many years and countries later Doug returned to the UK where he has lived for the past 18 years, the last eight in the leafy Royal Borough of Greenwich. Doug's work, both photographic and written, appears in a variety of publications world wide: The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, Newsweek, National Geographic Traveller, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Daily Mail, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Wanderlust, Conde Nast Traveller, Lonely Planet Magazine and guidebooks. His photography is represented by Getty Images, Axiom Photographic and Corbis Images.
