Gitzo has just debuted its new Series 4 ball head, and professional wildlife and outdoor photographers can rejoice. These new releases from Gitzo pair perfectly with considerable 400-600mm telephoto lenses. The ball head consists of a coated hollow-sphere ball, independent friction control, fluid drag, and more. All of this is to both support heavy lenses and to create an incredibly smooth shooting experience.

Designed for heavier telephoto lens kits:

The new ball head from Gitzo can handle the needs of professional photographers with heavier lenses. Most notably, Gitzo’s ball head has a payload of 30 kilograms, or approximately 66 pounds, to support hefty telephoto lenses created for outdoor and wildlife photography. Photographers can attach 400-600mm lenses without worrying about instability or a wobbly mount. Of course, you don’t have to be working with giant telephoto lenses to appreciate Gitzo’s new product. The new ball head makes maneuvering any smaller lens a breeze, too.

The professional ball head gives the option of two different plates: Gitzo’s D Profile plates or Arca-Swiss type plates. One plate uses a screw lock function, while the other uses a lever lock function to fit your preference.

Smooth motion for stills or video

Most photographers and videographers are familiar with the frustration of an unsteady ball head that doesn’t hold still, or readjusts unexpectedly when you change the shot. To ensure easy movements, Gitzo’s ball head has an independent friction control dial so users can set their ball head up for quick movements, or slight adjustments. Users can also take advantage of the ball head’s fast lock feature to lock into place swiftly and securely.

Another notable new feature of the Gitzo ball head is the fluid drag system on the pan axis. Ideal for capturing motion, the fluid drag system guarantees smooth tracking of moving subjects anywhere along the pan axis. Even if you’re not capturing motion, a smooth pan axis is appreciated when aligning a still shot. At the heart of the product is the ball head itself. The ball head is a coated hollow-sphere that is capable of fostering smooth movement with the heaviest of lenses. Users will appreciate the fluidity of tilting and panning with the new Gitzo ball head.

Although the ball head can support roughly 66 pounds, it weighs less than two pounds itself. Outdoor photographers prefer to travel light, and the Gitzo ball head keeps the overall weight modest. Also, the ball head does come with a standard bubble level to keep shots straight and balanced when needed.
