Fitbit’s family of fitness trackers just got a brand new addition. Earlier this week, the company announced the brand new Fitbit Charge 4 now featuring built-in GPS, Spotify control, seven-day battery life, and Active Zone Minutes heart rate tracking.
The swim-proof Fitbit Charge 4 includes the company’s new innovative workout tracking system, which establishes your resting heart rate and age and logs any workout that increases your heart rate — no matter the movement — for a weekly goal of 150 minutes.
To get people moving, Fitbit is also gifting a free 90-day trial of Fitbit Premium, and has added new programs and workouts from nationally recognized brands including barre3, Down Dog and Physique 57.
“Our mission has always been to help people around the world get healthier. In today’s extraordinary times, that mission is more important than ever, but we realize how hard it is to focus on your health and wellness. However, staying active, eating well and getting enough sleep can help reduce stress and boost immunity,” says James Park, CEO and co-founder, in a press release. “To help support our users, we’re offering a free trial of Fitbit Premium and added content so our users have the right tools at home to help them stay healthy; and, with Active Zone Minutes, we are giving users a new personalized standard for health and fitness so they can get the most out of any activity that works for them and help to keep them motivated.”
Built-in GPS:
The Fitbit Charge 4 is the company’s first tracker to include built-in GPS, which means you can head outside for your workout sans smartphone. The tracker’s internal technology tracks your movement, direction, and pace, and syncs is all with the Fitbit app to later display a heat map from the workout. Running, walking, hiking, and more outdoor workouts are tracked via the tracker’s GPS sensor, making your workout logs all the more dynamic.
Active Zone Minutes:
Breaking past just steps, the new Active Zone Minutes addition builds upon Fitbit’s healthy-first legacy. Active Zone Minutes pair with PurePlus 24/7 tracking to follow and measure your heart rate throughout all workouts, all with the goal to keep moving for at least 150 minutes per week when you enter the “fat burn zone.” Game up and earn double points for activity if you reach cardio and “peak zones.” Wrist notifications alert you each time you enter or leave a zone, so pick it up, pull back, or rest, depending on your goals.
Sleep health and hygiene:
The Charge 4 comes loaded with all of the sleep features Fitbit has mastered over the years. Sleep Score, Sleep Mode, and alarms all allow added controls of your nighttime hours and help keep sleep schedules and maintain sleep quality over time. Sleep wake — which will be added soon — will use machine learning technology to find the best time in your sleep cycle to wake you, ensuring that you’re awaken gently, and not startled.
Spotify control & more notifications:
The Fitbit Charge 4 is the first Fitbit tracker to feature Spotify Connect & Control, and allows you to control your music, right from your wrist.
Fitbit Pay, the company’s proprietary payment system, comes included. Text, calendar, phone calls, and app notifications also keep you connected. The Charge 4 comes with a seven-day battery life, and is available in black, granite, and rosewood.
The Fitbit Charge 4 is available now for at Adorama.
