The innovative rethinking of video camera features a largely touchscreen interface and hot swappable solid state drives, Canon EF mount, and Thunderbold I/O.Who is the target audience for this camera? What are the key technologies that differentiate it from the competition? We interview Blackmagic’s U.S. President Dan May on the floor to find out.
Phantom Miro M320SMiguel Goodbar of Adorama Rentals caught up with Jamie Alac of AbelCine to discuss the new high speed cinema camera from Vision Research, the Phantom Miro M320S.Capable of up to 1500fps at 1080p. With an ISO of 1100, the camera comes with a variety of mounts, including including EF and PL. It has 12 GB of inbuilt RAM, providing 4.2 seconds of recording time, which when maxed will transfer to the external, CineFlash media.If you have an appetite for super slo-mo footage, the Phantom Miro will satisfy your need for speed.
RED Dragon 6k Sensor and Other NewsWe caught up with RED’s Ted Schilowitz to discuss the latest developments from the Digital Cinema Company, including the new 6K sensor for the EPIC and ONE.
ARRI M40, M18 and L7-CARC’s Miguel Goodbar met up with ARRI‘s John Gresch at this year’s NAB to talk about some of the new lighting tools from the company.John shows us the M40 HMI in a Max Technology Reflector, which maximizes light, the M18 1800 watt lamp in the Max reflector which can work off an outlet, and finally, the L7-C LED fresnel, which allows you to program the color temperature between 2800 and 10,000k and gives access to hue and saturation in various colors.
New Lenses from ZeissCarl Zeiss lenses have since time immemorial been synonymous with quality build and wonderful sharpness and fidelity, and they don’t show any signs of letting up.We met with Richard Schleuning of Zeiss at NAB to discuss the latest range of prime and zoom lenses for photo and filmmaking coming from the company.The ZE and ZF mount 25mm f/2 and ultrawide 15mm f/2.8 for DSLRs come in Nikon and Canon mounts. The five new CP.2 cinema lenses, with interchangeable mounts, including the 15mm full frame, fill out the range of cinema-optimized lenses. The “Superspeed” 35mm f/1.5, 50mm f/1.5 and 85mm f/1.5, allow for new creative possibilities. And the first CP.2 zoom lens, a small and light 70-200mm which covers the full frame sensor, makes its debut.
