The final day of E3 is upon us, and Nintendo was the brightest star of the show. While we didn’t hear news on a new Nintendo Switch, we got new games, new trailers, and an update on Metroid.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Super Smash Bros Ultimate kicked things off with a brand-new character reveal. Kazuya Mishima from Tekken will be joining the ever-growing roster. We don’t have a release date yet.
Life is Strange: True Colors
Life is Strange: True Colors will be releasing on Nintendo Switch on September 10th. A completely remastered collection of the first two titles!
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania
Release Date: October 5, 2021
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC
This is a remaster of the first three Super Monkey Ball games. Nintendo got to reveal that the new Super Monkey ball game, luckily, will be available on all consoles for non-Nintendo Switch owners.
Mario Party Superstars
Release Date: October 29, 2021
This is a collection of past maps and minigames, Mario Party Superstars hopes to pay tribute to old school Mario Party games. The game will feature an online multiplayer mode with over 100 minigames.
Metroid Dread
Release Date: October 8, 2021
Metroid Dread is officially announced and fans are rejoicing. It’s a brand-new 2D Metroid game from developers MercurySteam. Nintendo showcased a gameplay trailer, and a development history video. This has been a game-in-development for quite some time. New enemy types, new planets, and a new suit are here. It’s good to see Metroid go back to its 2D roots as this will be a must-buy on the Switch.
WarioWare Get it Together
Release Date: September 10, 2021
I was hoping for a new Wario Land, but a new WarioWare is good too! With more than 200 microgames Wario is back in lightning fast minigames. You can play solo or with a friend in 2-player co-op.
Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp
Release Date: December 3, 2021
Another remaster added to the growing list, and this one is a personal favorite. Advance Wars is back, with a remaster of the first two games. Nintendo showcased a gameplay trailer with new 3D graphics.
Shin Megami Tensei V
Release Date: November 12, 2021
We got a release date for the Switch-exclusive Shin Megami Tensei V. We saw an extended story and gameplay trailer. The game looks gorgeous and seems to have a robust combat system. The game focuses on the character Mara who gets thrown in a battle between angels and demons.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
Release Date: 2022
It is finally here! We got gameplay for the most anticipated Nintendo Switch game. Nintendo revealed a one minute, 37 second trailer showcasing a tease of gameplay and new areas to explore. Fans have already begun to theorize on the game and when it takes place. It seems Link will be taking to the skies in the sequel.
Final Thoughts
Nintendo brought the heat this year! They listened to what the fans wanted and delivered. Without a doubt, the biggest reveals were Metroid Dread and Breath of the Wild 2. Nintendo keeps hitting on all cylinders.
Official E3 2021 Awards
Best presentation of E3: Xbox + Bethesda Showcase
No Surprise here, Xbox + Bethesda had a powerhouse of a presentation. The future is looking bright for Xbox and Game Pass fans!
Most Anticipated game Overall: Forza Horizon 5
Coming out of left field, Forza Horizon 5 wins most anticipated game of E3. I assumed it would be Halo, Redfall, or Breath of the Wild 2. All eyes seem to be on the new Forza game which comes out later this year!
