DJI O4 Air Unit
If you are an FPV (First Person View) drone pilot, you know how important transmission rates and high-quality live view are. After all, these are your eyes when racing or filming in hair-raising situations. The DJI O4 Air Unit and Air Unit Pro are revolutionizing (once again, it is DJI) the FPV experience. With 1080p/100fps live view and transmission as fast as 15ms at a range of 15km, this is, to use a well-worn phrase, a game changer. Add to this the Air’s ability to capture high-quality video, meaning you don’t need to attach an action camera to your drone, and this upgrade is a no-brainer. The DJI O4 Air is available in two options, which we will discuss below.
These units offer exceptional user experience and video capture, let’s run through some of the key areas and compare the two options.
The Unit Pro sports a huge 1/1.3-inch image sensor for cinematic capture. The DJI O4 Air Unit is no such though, with a ½ inch sensor, the quality of the video is outstanding in both cases.
The DJI O4 Air Unit Pro sports a 155-degree view and captures 4K/120fps Video in 10-bit Log M Color Mode. This information can be stored internally (up to 4 GB) or on a microSD card. In comparison, the Air Unit captured 4K/60fps, stored internally, up to 23 GB, and sports a 117.6-degree wide field of view.
Both units have O4 transmissions, with the DJI O4 Air Unit using a single antenna, while the Pro has a dual antenna design. 1080p/100fps live view is standard in the Unit and Unit Pro as it has a 60mbs video transmission rate. Where the DJI 04 Air Unit Pro edges ahead is in range and latency: 15km and 15ms vs 10km and 20ms. To be fair, both sets of specifications are impressive!
DJI O4 Air Units are compatible with DJI Goggles 3, DJI Goggles N3, DJI Goggles 2, and DJI Goggles Integra. They can be used with the DJI FPV Controller 2 and 3.
