Canon has recently released four new products to meet the needs of multimedia content creators. The most unique offering coming out of today’s announcement is the Canon PowerShot PICK PTZ Camera, which provides a hands-free solution for those in the event photography or photo/video surveillance space. Additionally, Canon has also announced two new wide-angle STM lenses that provide a range of options for creators. Let’s take a look at each of the new products, and the key features they have to offer.
Canon PowerShot PICK 11.7MP Full HD 3x Zoom PTZ Camera
Imagine if you were able to track your subjects for photos and videos and ensure everything is perfect in focus — without even touching the camera. The Canon PowerShot PICK 11.7MP Full HD 3x Zoom PTZ Camera does just that. What does this mean exactly? Well, the PowerShot PICK is a pan, tilt, and zoom camera that is intended to be placed almost anywhere. The camera will then scan a scene, identify people, track their faces, and decide when to take photos/video all by itself.
This kind of technology allows for candid, authentic looking photos because it is minimally obtrusive. Even more-so, you can control the camera using a smartphone app. This allows you to control the camera’s features, view the photos and videos, and share on social media.
Certainly the most impressive aspect of this camera is its built-in smart tracking. The camera is able to move its lens automatically until it finds subjects to photograph. The PowerShot PICK can even register up to 12 known people to “prioritize.” This camera will prove useful for event photography, construction sites, or really anywhere that large groups would congregate.

Aside from Canon’s new PTZ camera, the company also released two new wide angle lenses…
Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Wide Angle Lens
The Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Wide Angle Lens is a macro photographer’s dream. It’s built to get up-close and personal with your subject with its close-focusing capabilities. It has a minimum focusing distance of just 5.5 inches with a close-up magnification of 0.5x. The circular (9-blade) f/1.8 aperture will further ensure bright images with stunning bokeh. Your subject is bound to be in crisp focus with the lens’ shake correction of up to 5.5 stops. When paired with an EOS R-series camera, the in-body image stabilization can reach up to 6.5 stops of correction.
But this lens isn’t just for amazing macro images — users will also be impressed by its video capabilities. Canon’s STM technology promises quiet autofocus during video recording, making it perfect for content creators looking for a lens that can do both photo and video.
Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens
When you need a more versatile lens to take on set, the new Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens could be a viable option. You’ll be able to capture the full scene with the ultra-wide focal length, or tighter spaces thanks to the zoom. The lens will work with full-frame cameras, or will be the equivalent of 24-48mm when used with APS-C sensor cameras like the EOS R7 and R10. Once again, Canon’s stepping motor (STM) allows this lens to work perfectly — and quietly — for video content.
You’ll have a minimum focus distance of about 11 inches, which would be around 5.1 inches in manual focus at the 15mm zoom position. With the abilities to capture wide angle plus close-focusing for smaller subjects, there’s no limit to what you can create.
