Surprise! Canon has launched — not one, but — two mirrorless cameras in the same day. These EOS R-series models will be the first from the company with the smaller APS-C imaging sensor. The Canon EOS R7 and EOS R10 cameras offer a compact size and ease of use at a low price that will certainly attract new photographers and existing photogs looking to make the switch to a new camera.

Canon EOS R7 Camera

The EOS R7 has positioned itself as an amazing option for hobbyists and entry-level photographers. If you’re one constantly capturing epic photos on vacation, this camera is lightweight yet packs in some serious features. It inherits its autofocus subject detection from the Canon EOS R3 Camera for a fraction of the price. It’s APS-C size image sensor can capture 32 million pixels and up to 15 frames per second with its electronic shutter.

If you’re looking to catch some heartfelt moments with video, the R7 has full width 4K video recording at 60p, 30p, and 24p and can record each clip over 30 minutes. Sports and wildlife shooters will also appreciate its in-body image stabilization, dust- and moisture-resistant body, and dual memory card slots.

The EOS R10 offers many of the same features. You’ll also find autofocus subject detection and the ability to capture up to 15 frames per second. At a lower price point, the camera is great for entry-level photographers who don’t need all of the features of the R7.

The R10 can capture 24 million pixels with its APS-C size image sensor. It’s video capabilities are more limiting than that on the R7, but is still a good option for content creators who want to push their work to the next level.

New Lenses Added

That wasn’t all Canon had up its sleeve for this announcement. The company also launched a series of RF-S lenses specifically built for the new cameras’ smaller APS-C sensor size. This includes standard zoom lenses in ranges 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 and 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3. These lenses are ideal for the new EOS R10 and EOS R7 bodies, although they can also be utilized on any R-series camera.
