Canon announced new Vixia camcorders at CES this week: the Canon Vixia HF R42, Canon Vixia HF R40 and R400 and Canon Vixia HF-G20. All are available for Pre-Order now at Adorama.
The flagship Canon Vixia HF-G20 has a 10x Optical Zoom, features an enhanced HD CMOS PRO Image Sensor that is said to produce low-light performance that is improved 20% over its predecessor. Canon’s SuperRange Optical Image Stabilizer combined with Intelligent IS corrects camera shake instantly, The VIXIA HF G20 offers Pre-Record, a feature that allows users to automatically capture three seconds of footage before they press the record button. In addition, the new G-series camcorder offers up to 12 hours of full HD recording, and provides 32GB of internal memory along with the option of recording to two SD card slots. The camera is operated via a 922K-dot, 3.5-inch touch panel screen. With Cinema-Look filters, Shooting Assist and Smart AUTO, users can experiment with a variety of imaging modes and easily identify optimum audio settings.
The Canon Vixia HF R40 and Canon Vixia HF R42 feature integrated Wi-Fi, which allows video streaming of live content to a variety of smartphones, tablets, and PCs. Users can share videos to social networks via Canon Image Gateway or use the free Canon Movie Uploader app which is currently available for iOS devices, or CameraAccess app, which is available for iOS and Android. The R42 has 32GB of internal memory, while the R40 has 8GB. Both accept SD memory cards and have a 3-inch touch panel LCD monitor. They camcorders will record 60p MP4 files at 1920×1080, as well as AVCHD progressive files at 1920×1080 at 28Mbps. Both camcorders have a 53x optical zoom lens.
The Canon Vixia HF R42, Canon Vixia HF R40, and VIXIA HF R400 are scheduled to be available in March at Adorama for $499.99, $399.99, and $299.99, respectively. The Canon Vixia HF-G20 will be available in February approximately $1,099.99. Adorama is accepting pre-orders now on a first-come, first-served basis.
