In a highly-anticipated live stream announcement, Blackmagic just revealed the successor to its popular Pocket Cinema Camera 4K: the new Pocket Cinema Camera 6K.

“The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K features incredible new 6K imaging and EF lens support that customers have asked for,” says Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO, in a company announcement. “It has all of the great features customers love from the 4K model, but now adds an EF lens, increased 6K resolution for even higher quality images and more. Plus, with the built in Video Assist features, customers don’t have to purchase and carry around extra equipment. DaVinci Resolve Studio is also included, making it an incredible all in one solution that enables anyone to be creative and tell a story.”

Now featuring the EF mount, the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K includes many of the same features as its predecessor — dual native ISO up to 25,600, 13 stops of dynamic range, 3D LUT support, a large 5-inch touchscreen, professional audio, and Blackmagic RAW, as well as included DaVinci Resolve Studio — but with higher solution and a full Super 35 size 6K HDR image sensor.

With an increased resolution of 6144 x 3456 (up from 4096 x 2160), and a 23.10mm x 12.99mm sensor (compared to 18.96mm x 10xmm), it’s a powerful pocket unit.

On the video side, the camera shoots up to 50 fps at 6144 x 3456 16:9, 60 fps at 6144 x 2560 2.4:1, 60 fps at 5744 x 3024 17:9, and 120 fps at 2.8K 2868 x 1512 17:9.

The 6K camera records using standard open file formats — 10-bit Apple ProRes in all formats up to 4K, or 12-bit Blackmagic RAW up to 6K. It has built-in CFast and SD UHS-II card recorders, and a USB-C port to allow external recording.

The camera is constructed from lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite. The same 5-inch touchscreen becomes even more significant, helping to achieve perfect focus at 4K and 6K, and the interface has intuitive tap and swipe gestures to change settings, view recordings, input metadata, and have control over advanced features.

Paired with any of the EF mount lenses, Blackmagic notes that the camera becomes an ideal companion for wedding, nature, travel, fashion, real estate, and many other shoots, and becomes a powerhouse tool for independent and documentary filmmakers, and YouTubers.

The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K is available now for  at Adorama
