Another year of CES is upon us, and that means we get to relish in the high-tech product reveals. CES is a look into what the technological future potentially holds. The biggest companies in the world get to showcase their creativity, imagination, and jaw-dropping products. Here’s a breakdown of the biggest announcements of CES 2022 so far.
Sony
Vision-S
Sony had an incredible showcase this year. Let’s begin with the new prototype of the all-electric Vision-S vehicle. The Vision-S seats up to seven individuals and is equipped with 40 sensors around the vehicle which analyzes the surrounding environment in real time. The vehicle is equipped with 5G communications as well as the ability to play your favorite PlayStation games through a remote connection to your console at home and stream games through the cloud. Sony is another step closer to entering the EV market.
Sony Master Series XR-A95K
The first entry into QD-OLED technology has been unveiled by Sony. Quantum Dots (QD) with OLED eliminates the need for an LCD panel. The XR-A95K boosts color brightness by up to 200%, has a native 4K display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate and HDMI 2.1.
PS VR2
My personal favorite announcement from Sony was the PS VR 2. We’ve known that Sony has been designing a new virtual reality set, and now we have the full picture. The PS VR2 will be made for the PS5 console, and will come with a new VR controller called the VR2 Sense Controller. You get a 110-degree field of view with a 4K HDR OLED display, and frame rates of 90/120Hz. No external camera is needed as the headset has integrated cameras embedded within.
With new sensory features, the PS VR2 has eye tracking, headset feedback, 3D audio, and sense controllers for full immersion. Headset feedback amplifies the sensations of in-game actions with a built-in motor. Sony states that “gamers can feel a character’s elevated pulse during tense moments, the rush of objects passing close to the characters head…” This sounds absolutely incredible! Can you imagine playing the newly announced Horizon Call of the Mountain and feeling the rustle of trees as you sneak through the forest. The PS VR2 can also detect the motion of your eyes which adds a new level of realism.
