Jason Weingart

Jason Weingart graduated from the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies at the University of Central Florida in 2013. His award-winning work has been featured by National Geographic, Time Magazine, BBC, The Weather Channel, and prominent media outlets all over the world. Inspired at a young age by a local meteorologist’s classroom visits, as well as movies such as The Wizard of Oz and Twister, Jason’s interest in weather has been long established. He has been chasing thunderstorms for thirteen years and has witnessed over 100 tornadoes, including the largest ever recorded in U.S. history. In 2015, he co-authored The Anatomy of Severe Weather, a visual explanation of the dynamics of severe weather. His full-time career is leading photography workshops and tours specializing in storm chasing, astrophotography, and landscape photography. Thousands of guests have attended his workshops since their inception in 2016. When Jason isn’t traveling in search of compelling images, he splits time between Texas and Illinois, with his wife, Savannah; daughter, Emerald; and son, Chase. At home, he enjoys spending time with his family, working on his images, landscaping, and restoring their historical 1905 Victorian house. You can see more of his work, learn how he captures his images, or join a workshop at www.jasonrweingart.com and www.twisterhunter.com.
