Fender is a company that has created some of the most iconic instruments to ever be recorded. There is nothing quite like the legendary sounds of the Stratocaster, the Rhodes, or the Precision bass played through a classic Fender tube amp. Fender has been a mainstay on stage and in the studio since the 1950’s and continues to deliver road ready products today. The team at Fender stands on decades of professional experience but designs new gear that tackles the needs of today. Fender responded to the increased demand for live sound products by releasing their first ever powered speaker line: The Fender Fortis.
Fender is not new to the world of PA systems and live sound. Their Passport series all-in-one portable PA has been a go-to product of gigging musicians for many years. With the Fortis, Fender offers pro-level powered speakers that have serious volume, clarity, functionality, durability, and is priced below the competition. For now, The Fender Fortis series is available for purchase exclusively through Adorama.
The Fender Fortis is available in two sizes. The Fender Fortis F-12BT ($649.99) features a 12” speaker and the Fender Fortis F-15BT ($749.99) houses a 15” speaker. Other than the size of the speaker and the cabinet, both models have the same features. The Fortis series speakers pack 1300W of audio power courtesy of dual onboard class-D amplifiers. Both the F-15BT and F-12BT are two-way speakers and feature a 1.75” titanium horn-loaded driver in addition to the main speaker. These premium titanium horns allow for crystal clear high-end reproduction. The main speaker (woofer) works in tandem with the horn to create room-filling full range sound with a 50deg. x 90deg. dispersion pattern. The speaker cabinet is constructed from 9-ply voidless plywood with a hard-wearing paint and powder-coated perforated steel grill to handle the relentless abuse of gigging and the road.
The Fender Fortis can be used as a stand-alone speaker by a solo musician, DJ, or small ensemble thanks to the built in 3 channel mixer. The back control panel features two XLR/TRS combo-jacks with independent volume control. The third channel features a 3.5mm (1/8”) input as well as Bluetooth connectivity. Now you can stream your music directly from any smart device to the Fender Fortis without the need for any cables. This is a great feature if you’re working double duty and hosting a party as well as DJing. You can queue up your next songs and adjust volume from anywhere in the room. The rear panel also features a three-position EQ switch and a four-position LF switch to tailor the response of the speaker to the room. If the event needs more than one speaker it is easy to connect multiple Fender Fortis together with XLR cables via the loop-through and extension outputs. With multiple Fender Fortis speakers, you could build a modular sound system that will be perfect for any sized event.
Fender did some great planning work with the Fortis line and recognized the need to combine and rig multiple speakers together. To make this as easy as possible they included M10 rigging points and a 35mm pole socket with vertical and 7.5deg. downward angles for optimal positioning of the speaker. The trapezoidal form factor makes it an ideal floor monitor with two different angles to minimize feedback and maximize dispersion. Three flush-mounted ergonomic cup handles are positioned in key locations to make handling of the lightweight enclosure very easy.
All of these features make the versatile Fender Fortis ideal for public speaking at schools, houses of worship, comedy clubs, or businesses. Offering a big sound with musicality, the Fortis is a great option for DJ’s, indoor and outdoor parties, background music, or restaurants. Combining multiple speakers together make the Fortis a pro-level choice for small ensembles, rock bands, solo musicians, stage monitors, and small-to-medium sized venues. The F-12BT and the F-15BT are bold new entries from Fender, filling a gap in their legendary product line. Fender has done it again! The Fortis Series offers amazing audio performance, road ready durability, and cutting-edge tech features that can satisfy almost any situation while keeping the price lower than the competitors.
