Documentary photographer and cinematographer Paul Ninson was born in Ghana, and had a pivotal career opportunity when he met Brandon Stanton of “Humans of New York.” Stanton saw Ninson’s raw, natural talent, and mentored him through everything from a move from Ghana to New York to making it as a photographer in the Big Apple. Ninson photographs everything from street scenes to cultural movements, and blends action, color, and story in a seamless way.

Idara Ekpoh is a First Generation Nigerian-American woman who’s made a name for herself in the world of photography. This visual storyteller wows audiences with pops of colors and dazzling lighting that helps her subjects truly come to life through still photography. In addition to Ekpoh’s stunning images on Instagram, she has a variety of personal projects on her website, including Self Portrait Sunday, which features a new self-portrait each Sunday to help her explore her own identity.

Sony Alpha ambassador Tomayia Colvin’s photography experience goes way back, including her nearly 10 years photographing high school seniors. Colvin, who’s also a school teacher, paired her education background with photography know-how to launch the Tomayia Colvin Education community, a program that enables her to empower photographers of color and those in the LGBTQ+ community.
